stock stuff for the 08 is 14/39 along with a small change to the internal gears also. I like my 15/38 for what i do which is mostly trails and such. it is fast enough to outrun any other 400 and will still get up and out of the hole nicely. i also like the 14/38 depending on if i need my 21" tires or something with some more drag. 12/40 is pretty low for any type of faster riding in my opinion. i would go to a 14/40 and see how it is for me. 2 in the back bigger is like one in the front smaller or vice versa. steve

Here is a converter. Just put in the RPM, tire size and sprocket size and it will calculate how fast it will go.

i pretty much only do trail riding would that gearing make me go through 1st gear faster this is my first four stroke and it seems like first gear goes really fast on this bike

going bigger in the front or smaller in the back will make the gears longer which lowers the gear ratios. the gear ratios you have now are really really high since your front gear is so small and the back is so big. if you want to make your first gear more usable go to a 14. this would make it accelerate a bit slower but would make it much more usable for each gear. you can ride in 3rd instead of say 4th as a comparison. steve
