Here are some pictures of my version of PRMs Outbacker rack. I made it using Stainless tubing from work and stainless steel connectors for railings, I then bent up some stainless sheet metal for the bottom, to mount it I used marine BBQ rail mount clamps. I am going to replace the 2x4's with stainless square stock.

It is rock solid I can sit on it no problem. I only have like 60 bucks into it.

I also made some A-arm skid plates, It is the same material as the engine skid I made last year that has held up great for a year of riding. It is stainless shelves that I cut up but it is pretty thick and fairly light because of the holes. It Cleans super easy because all of the debris fall through.

they look really good, how do you think the screen type sheets will hold up? I think they should be really nice since they are light and will not hold mud and such as easy since it can go through them. the rack looks nice too but i think you may want to add a mount to the support that goes to the middle of the grab bar. steve

I have had the engine skid on for over a year and have been high centered on rocks a bunch of times and it is not event bent.

I have a mount at work I just have to go pick it up, that support was a hindsight item to reduce flex so I did not have another mount.

Its nice because the clamps that mount it to the grab bar are super easy to take off, I can have it off in like 20 minutes.

How are the skids attached to the frame?

Three bolts and stainless steel bailing wire.

sounds pretty nice. I noticed the mounts, they look really nice. Where did you get them from. if i ever make any type of rack i would use something like that setup. i did my 6 pack rack with the same setup as the prm stuff with 2 ubolts on each side. it works good though for the little bit i use it. i usually run a gas can instead of a cooler in mine since i have a square can that fits in the rack also. I will take some pics of it tomorrow if you want. it is made of 1/8" steel and is rhino lined. it actually mounts straight off of the back instead of having it go up and then out. so it is level with the grab bar at the support and the cooler sits about 1.5" below the support. steve

I got them from West Marine. I work there I think they retail for 59 for a pair of the clamps but I got them cheaper is why my total is lower.

The clamps are made by Magma
