Ok, i just got this 06' KFX80 & need to know how to get to the air filter. it didnt come w/ a manual, surely you dont have to take the gas tank off? speaking off gas tank, i went to take it off & the 2 top bolts that hold the thing that it looks like a light can go & 1 just turns. how in the world can i get this bolt out?

I don't know for sure about an '06, but on the earlier models, there are 2 screws on the underside of the big plastic 'can' that houses the air filter.

Remove those and the bottom drops out giving you access. It's easiest if you remove the hoses, but on a warm day you can easily flex them enough to service the filter.

OMG!!!!.......lol i was thinking i had to remove the gas tank & it went up & not down. boy that's a relief. any idea on the nut that spins in the tank not allowing me to get the bolt off.

Hmmmm...Most thinks it's easy.
2 screws, 2 hoses, and a clamp and it simply pulls out the left side.

yea, well i guess next time ill remove the hoses & clamp. I left the hoses all attached to the can & it just didn't seem to have enough room to drop down enough to come out easy. Is it a lot simpler removing the hoses from the can.

OK, i got this filter all cleaned up now. Just wondering if this type of filter needs re-oiling or does it go on dry?

The stock filter (as well as most aftermarket ones) require a LIGHT oiling.
