Hi guys,
I'm getting to race my 250R this weekend in a hare scramble. Does anyone have advice on what premix ratio would be best? I've been running 32:1 but it seems like I have too much oil.
Thanks
Doug

Well as sad as it sounds "whatever is on sale" but mostly Honda or Yamaha brand oil. Do you have a suggestion on oil type and ratio?

Thanks

I would pick a quality oil and stick with it. I run the Klotz
Super TechniPlate 32:1 It works very well for me.

I would use Bel Ray H1R at 32:1 when racing. If just normal riding I would run it at 42:1.

P.S. I hate Kloggs (Klotz)

Second that.

I have ran H1R belray at 50-1 and it still foul plugs. H1R is a good anti-wear premix, but I would rather run a good bean based oil like 927 + it smells much better, and no fouled plugs.

thats a good clean burning oil that protects quite well i use that oil in my ktm300 because its powervalved but at 21 dollars a quart its rediculously expensive , lol and any castor based oil will ''klogg'' up ure silencer core overtime and its a pain to clean but the protection it provides is great but if u put around id go with belray Hir if ure have the money to waste or powervalved and want good oil that burn clean or amsoil intercepter which is 7 bucks a quart and burns clean which is good for trail riders because of the low flash point it also helps with keepin the motor from loading up

Amsoil 40:1.......and I've never looked back. Once you try it, you'll change too.;)

Another subject where everyone has their own opinions and preferences. Klotz R50 is what I run in all my R's. It offers excellent protection in my motors with minimal wear when tore down for inspection. Always run 32:1. Klotz makes all different kinds of oils for all applications, that is why you won't find it on the shelf of your local gas station or grocery store usually.

My friends HATED me for a summer while I ran that same combo. My buddy claimed it wouldn't come out of his clothes for a week.....lol

I've since switched over to Amsoil Dominator and have had no problems.

Thanks guys and gals. I'm going to try 40:1 this weekend. I picked up some Castor927 last night. I'll let you know how it goes.

i dont know were u live but remember that that castor oil likes to separate at low temps around 35 degress so just keep that in mind

All premix gases should be shook before filling and or riding. All oils will seperate from the gas, to a certain degree. :) Just good practice.

Make sure you dont mix 927 with regular type oil. Drain your tank first. I have always been told and seen it first hand, you dont mix castor based oil with petroleum based oil it gums up and separates the oil out of the gas.

Dont think you can just use less oil in your premix ratio(you said u think your using too much oil) If you switch from say 32:1 to 40:1 you are really doing the opposite of what u think, jetting changes will need to be made. And for the future, pick an oil and fuel mix,jet your motor to what you are using and stick with it.

each one has pros and cons... normally the good stuff is more $$

the highest stuff i've ever seen is Royal Purple... i've never ran it cause its crazy $$...
