Laptop not reading SD cards

So I have a micro sd card in my phone that I put all my music on and I haven't put anything on it in a while and now I went to put some new music on it and my computer wont read the card when I put it in the SD slot.. I bought another micro SD card for my GFs phone and went plugged it into the computer to put some music on it and it also would not read hers. Hers is brand new... I dont know chit about computers but I really would like this fixed..

Anyone else had this problem?

The laptop is a HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr

You may need to reinstall the card reader drivers. HP PC (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3795411&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us) and choose your OS. Download the Card Reader controller. It should come with an install file that will run for you.
