Bogging Down

i have an 05 z400 that is completly stock exept for some handlebars...

this summer i was riding it and all of a sudden it started bogging down if i gave it any throttle...it would idle fine though...then after a few hrs it started running fine again....

then about a month later i was riding at home and it did the same thing so i took the fuel tank apart and cleaned it and then it worked again...

then another month later i was racing in a xc race and on the last lap it started bogging down with any throttle again...got towed out and then took it home... i set it on the grab bar to wash it and when i was done it ran great again

so just now i was out riding in the snow and it started bogging down again...anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

i have the same problem with mine. runs great then out of no where will do the same thing yours is doing. frieds did some thing the same to and he just turned the gas petcock to prime instead of on or res and worked for him have yet to do it with mine. try and let me know if it works

idk then. its realy weird to cause it runs fine no problems then goes to bogging when giving it gas but idles fine dont have a clue then and realy need to figure this out kinda pissed me off the last time i was riding my kfx.

yep i have been there .
what i did was pull the vent hose out of the hole that its held in ,something about pushing it into that hole pinches off the venting

u mean on the plastic dash??..i got rid of that awhile ago and checked the vent

taken the plastic dash off wrong??....i took that off a year ago and theres not much that could go wrong..haha

ive tried running it without the gas cap and everything to see if it was the vent..thanks though!

i find it hard to believe your sucking all the gas out of the carb tho it is possible ,there is a fine screen just before the needle seat ,
ya have to remove the float to get to it ,there may be enough dirt plugging it to slow the flow of gas

alright..i'll probably just take the carb off and clean it..i've had it for over 4 years and never done anything to it

i took the carb out and cleaned the jets and it runs great now..
