View Full Version : my 450r vs a ltr 450

Just wondering, i had my 05 400ex with pipe jets and filter and my buddy has a 06 ltr 450, he pulled on me but i really wasnt impressed, I would like to shove it in his face and race him now as i have a 450 now and he picked on me for loosin.. but hey its a 450 vs a 400... Like i said my 450 has rossier full exhaust, rossier jets, 180 main, kn air filter with aftermarket lid. Will i beat him on his 06 ltr with pipe and filter and cherrybomb chip?

yea i know the ltr wouldnt be keepin up with me in the woods, they have wide arms, im mostly talkin about straight road 5 gears.. we are both good riders, iv heard the ltr's are the fastest out of the box, but it wasnt pullin on my 400 very fast mostly on top speed, and i know my 450 has way more power than my 05 400

definately not talking **** but i just wanna give my 2 cents ha i have a stock ltr 450 with a cherry bomb and ive never been beat by any fourwheeler besides my friends banshee that has about 15gs in it ha and i have a buddy with a outlaw 525 and if he can get me off the line he can beat me and i can beat him if i get him off the line...i love the 450rs but ive raced kfx450rs raptor 700s 660 trx 450s yfz everything and i always get them on the dirt drag strips where i race i recently put holeshots and beadlocks on it and its faster now than ever when i come off the line when i hit third im way ahead and i just dont see how it is like this on mine and not on others haha i mean i can drive good but damn i cant be the best by far hahaha and the woods the ltrs are wide but ive never been down a trail i couldnt make it ive clipped a few trees but never got stuck and were usually hauling ***

yeah but like i saw in another post.. you can have 100 hp, you can have 50 hp but the gearing will only let you get so far before you need to change it thats also why i said up the tires its just like changing a tooth on front i beleive but correct me if im wrong just my thought

hey ex where did you get that bumper the mounts look adjustable like mine are i have used same bumper on my 06 trx 400ex along with my 07yfz and 04 trx450r

yeah that is true im not big on drag or anything the ltrs come with 18s and i love it we race on like a 200ft track prob i never shift to fifth just holding 4th...i have a friend thats got a trx and hell pump his tires up way high and race my buddy thats got a yfz and beat him on the street everytime ha its so funny so it def makes a lot of sense i love having that out the hole speed

yeah the drag i went to on my 400 it was amazing the diffrence a 22 did vs a 20 with the 22 i was beated some 450r a 525 kfx700 and one yfz but another heavaly modded one beat me by like half a bike length or so this was around a 200ft track not sure on that tho

and btw the 400 was stock besides slip on and skids for xc i was beating them off the line which helped

yeah i has a suzuki ltz 400 before with 20s aired down to like 2lbs ha and i could hold my own on with a yfz went down a tooth upfront and you couldnt hold the front end down when you hit 2nd ha i sold it and the guy just put a 440 kit on it and wont even ride it i was like wtf think he just dont wanna have to race and get beat hahaha jk

In acceleration... I'd give it to the LTR. Top end racing is silly, it's just all in the gearing and tire sizes. A cherrybombed LTR will give a piped 450R a run for its money.

You have a pipe and filter, and it's jetted to match. (You think anyways).

What's your plug look like? I'm not sure what a rossier jet kit consists of, but it's probably just the main... does anyone know if it comes with a needle?

The top end on the stock gearing is ridiculous! I will be in 4th gear passing the 400's topped out and I am like seriously? I have another gear to go! The 5th gear is so long and it scares the **** out of me in the woods. Too fast to make split decisions and see whats ahead quick enough through trees. Almost took my head off with a tree when it high sided trying to make a turn at those speeds. Now that was a wild ride saving it. I had to stop and catch my breath

ha i got my ltr and wasnt really used to the wide stance and i used to take my z400 and would whip it hard going straight and just kick some rocks out and stuff well i was 5th gear on the ltr slung it way out and honestly slid completely sideways almost to a complete stop scared the shiznit out of me

Well mines got 20 inch tires on the back, im not saying racing top speed im talking from a little roll to like mid 4th gear i would like to be beside him if not in front of him, the rossier full pipe is 500 bucks and a very good one at that and the jet kit from rossier comes with the 180 main and needle and pilot jet, so thats whats in my bike. im just trying to give him a race to think about sence he is talking up on 400's iv had. But personaly i hate the ltrs, he hit a tree just bearly rolling and completly demolished the a arm, not built well and his blows fuel pump fuses all the time and he is always haveing to fix the motor. thats just me though, they look cool but we know where the reliability is Ride Red! And yea the bumper is adjustible the mounts came with it

damn man ive got an 08 and never had problems i take mine to the mx track as much as i can and no problems haha this weekend its prob gonna blow up since ive said that but no problems knock on wood

yea you can get it on ebay but i got it with the 450 here is what its under 450R FRONT BUMPER 450 R ATV BAR DESERT

Good luck its only 70 shipped but it does not come with the adjustible mounts

They sell those bumpers at rocky mountain atv, or at least they did, theres another style as well not just the xc version there is an mx version as well. Its made by a company called motosports products I think

my buddie got the cheap mx version of that bumper from motosport. it was a pain in the *** to put on, the bolts that hold the mounts onto the bumber strip out easily, because the mounts are made from cheap aluminum. u would spend a little more $ to get a good bumper.

yeah mine was to and the nerf bars mounts arntvery good either the paint also chiped very easy i have this one

I adjust mine all the time i think the quality is good on them, at least it protects your arms, the bumper is strong, if you tag a tree you bend 5$ mount and not 80$ bumper. Mine are fine, though i dont use a torqe wrench on my bumper

well my bumper its sell is bent right in the middle i tried to push my friend and the screen skrews have been lost so i have re done them and that screen gets bent easy
