Can you shift? What happens when you start it and and hit the throttle?

is it possable that the axle bearing might have like "exploded" and wedged the axle in

it could be possible, but i would highly doubt it would stay locked up if he got towed home.

jack the rear end up and determine if it is your axle/carrier that is seized or if it is your engine.

You should be able to at least wiggle the rear back and forth with the small bit of play you have in your chain. If you can, then it sounds like it is your engine. I would take the side cover off and check the clutch.

I am assuming you can't pull the clutch in and run the starter either.

It is possible you seized the piston too. Honestly, there are any number of things that could have gone wrong. Might have snapped your timing chain and it is wedged in.
