gonna need a little more info.

What type of riding do you do?
do you still want a full on sport quad?
what kind of problems are you having?

more information please.

thats like asking what is the best color. Its all personal preference. If your looking for something pick 3-4 in the approximate size and power then go see what fits you best.

Gonna agree with ichoptop. I have owned a lot of quads and love my 400ex the most. Doesnt mean I dont miss the others. You are the one to make your own decision. We all have different preferences.

old style yfz
400ex
kfx 700
raptor 700

all good all around quads my picks for ones id personally

400ex is probably most reliable of the bunch if you bought it with alot of wear tha could explain some of your issues but there about as durable of a quad ull ever find

400ex's are some of the best all around, easiest to use, and they just take a beating and keep on ticking.

What's wrong with what you have now?

If your 400ex is giving you trouble, get a 250ex lol. Whats wrong with the 400ex? Is it something a previous owner did or something you did to give you problems because its very reliable machine and a great all around quad. There really isnt a best quad its what you like and feel comfortable on.

well the guy who i bought it from told me it was fine and it was for about a month then i found a holes in the tires and replaced those, then the axel barring locked up and i had to replace that..battery, and now it wont start in the cold unless i put a heater on it and a battery charger. its a money pit and i want to cut my losses and find a nice sport trail quad

Honestly, your gonna have problems like that with every quad. Its just part of riding

the only way to not deal with the stuff you listed is to buy new. you bought a 10 year old qoad used, and stuff happens.

sounded like it was fine, he cant forsee the future, axle bearings, batterys and tires go bad on everyquad regularly

sounds like you need to buy a repair manual, new battery and just ride the quad you got... theres no nicer sport trail quad than a 400ex... only other optiion i could see for u thats less matintence is buy a new quad

i have had to replace my axle bearings twice in the 3 yrs ive owned it and mine wont start in the cold either without a heater on it for at least 15 min. sounds normal. stick with it eventually you'll fix what ever little stuff is going to happen and then it will be a decent quad.

yeah if your having problems with simple stuff going wrong on a 400ex dont bother purchasing a 450. 400ex is the most reliable thing i have ever owned. a new battery, posibly changing a jet or two, and a valve adjustment should be all you will need for a while other then gas and an oil change.

Mine was cold blooded as heck; even though it was jetted well and ran great when warmed up.

My personal trick was to whack the gas open 3 times, then hit the starter...it could be covered in snow, but fire right up. Try stepping up one size on your pilot jet during colder weather, that should help a lot as well.

Not trying to be brand bias, but a 400ex is as reliable a 4 wheeler as a rock is hard...I love my 'R, but definitely miss the 400.
