Well I finally got my CFM airbox lid the way I want it (not that there was a single thing wrong with it from CFM) I just wanted a lid but I needed just a little more air. So here is what I did. I kept CFMs lid for real bad weather and made me a second one check it out.

This is a pic of the entire airbox if someone would like more I have them. This is a very nice box that opens all kinds of options for different riding conditions.

For those of you that are looking for a very nice airbos this should be you first choice I was very happy with the way this thing is made and Niel at CFM was a very easy guy to work with.

i like the beefier enclosed set up they have now.

i am going to get one and mod it similar to you, but instead put the holes BEHIND the filter instead of directly over top because i use the vents without the filters. this way when water gets in it does not fall on the filter.

does the cfm have a drain?

oh shiz, the battery is behing the filter?????

maybe put vents on the side then??? will see

Looks like it is great quality. I will be getting one somtime this year. But prolly not until race season starts.

How much you pay for it? If ya don;t mind.

It does have a drain. Yeah you probably could put the vents on the side but they may have to be kinda low on the box due to the wiring cage he has inside the box. I am very sure this thing will hold up it is nice and strong.

I love my cfm open box and actually would have never paid the money for one if I wanted it closed instead of open.

I just added an outerwears filter to my K&N and also bought an outerwears filter for the air box which the were not sure if it was going to fit. It take a bit of cutting of the velcro but when your done it works fine.

My CFM is great thou and I really love it. Had some problems with the battery moving around in it but I just got the stock battery holder and cut it up so the sides only went in and sandwiched between the battery and aluminum sides. Than I tweaked the top battery strap a bit so when tightened it would hold a lot better.

Everything worked fine and is still holding up great...

are those both on 400ex's? Looks like one stops in front of seat latch support and one comes all the way to the back

Most people say they wouldn't buy it if they wanted a lid. I wanted my battery and everything out of the way and I am just feel better having a lid after running my K&N with outerwears and no lid for more than a year and seeing the dirt and stuff in my intake tube. This is just such a nice clean looking setup and I am very happy with it. It just sucks that it has been way to cold to clean my quad before the pictures as normally it is spotless unless it is being rode.

Mine is on a 400ex but it was one of the first ones made, they may have made them smaller now but if mine was any smaller it wouldn't have fit the K&N. Even with this box I had to re arrange a few of the mounts for the solinoids and wiring.

Yeah mine is on a 400EX also. I think mine stops before the latch because of the lid. It is very hard to fit a K&N in my box but I was switching to a foam filter anyway so I had no problem with that.

They told me the UMI filter fits perfect and they weren't even sure about a K&N until I sent them pics of mine installed. It is a very tight fit thou but K&N is all I'll buy....

That is basicly what I was told. I to normally run K&N and love them but on my quad they just don't stand up to the amount of dust up hear.

The CFM in my book is the best out there...CFM is working on my custom oil rezzie for my YZF conversion as we speak...I ran a K&n with my CFM..Not only are their airboxes great but so is the Tie rods..

The CFM looks great and that's what I would buy. Can you post a picture of your stock battery side? I want to see how much better it looks without all that crap there.....

WarriorMan,

I will put a few more pics up tonight to show the inside of the box and stuff. I am glad you like it.

SmokinJoe,

I know it isn't as good as yours right:rolleyes: Well yours don't hold the Battery and that is what I needed for what I do. If the threads about other boxes bother you so much you could just pass them up. I am just showing the guys and gals what is out there and how it looks installed, not have a guy bashing me for how I spent my money.

Yeah that looks much better, but would look GREAT with a CFM Subframe. lol

Here is a pic of the inside. If you are woundering at all I did not even need to drop a jet size after going from no lid to this lid and the bike runs as awsome as it ever has.

Yeah I hope it won't be very long before I can buy a sub frame from CFM aswell.
