Hey i just got a 2005 450r today, it has the rossier full exhaust on it, jeted with either a 175 main or 180, k/n air filer with aftermarket lid, and thats it. i got it home today ran it up and down the road a little, ran very well no problems at all. i was very impressed, i got it back shut it off let it cool and started it back up and no longer than 5 mins the header pipe was glowing red hot an average of 6 inches from the head. Im thinking too lean.. winter time thinner/colder air will do that, My question is it safe for me to run it like that for the winter. I mean the motor isnt geting hot i can touch it, so i dont see no harm, But just give me your thoughts

Nice Bike man!

Mine glowed red about 6" out stock and it still does modified. This is the nature of the 450r. I would say if it glows any further down than 6" it could be lean. I ride with another 450r and a YFZ450 and they both glow as well.

I have actually not seen a 450 that didn't glow the exhaust, in the dark that is, if you can see it glow red in the daylight then you are lean. At night or in a dark garage about 6" out is normal for these machines.

I have a Curtis Sparks pipe on mine and it glows big time. I believe it just shows up more with aftermarket pipes even when jetted right because they're thinner than stock. Sharp bike.

Yep sounds about right...Its 20 degrees where I live right now and last week i burned a hole in the leg of my coveralls our riding trails...Needless to say I put my heat shield back on my head pipe. :D

I would go up on your pilot, and down one position on your needle.
