Oil questions

can you just change oils if you've been using one type for a while now. i've been running some Maxima trans oil and some GTX for motor oil. i want to Swtich over to all Pro Honda stuff. I know you cant just change food on your dog or it will throw up, just checking about my four wheeler too! lol.

also, does anyone know if the CRF250 oil filter is the same as the 450? i have an extra CRF250 oil filter and it looks identical to my 450R oil filter, but didnt want to take the chance unless i know its ok.

That will be the best thing you ever did for your engine! You shouldnt have any issues at all. You can use the synthetic (HP4)or black bottle (GN4) in the trans side, but I would run nothing but synthetic in the engine side.

I run mobil 1 15/50 synthetic in the engine side, then GN4 black bottle in the trans.

Oh yea, the 250 filter will work.

well i ran what ever gold bottle/red cap Honda has in my trans in my CRF and GN4 for my motor oil. It blew up 2 weeks ago :(

I can guarantee you it wasnt because of that oil. If you dont stay on top of piston maintenance, itll bite you on those engines.
