what is the largest size main jet that a stock sportsman carb can handle? and where can you find them? I believe the stock jet is 85

That actually should be 82.5 from factory. Remember you dont wanna be rich you wanna be on the leaner side for power. More fuel doesnt mean more power. Just trying to help.

In order to run and aftermarket air cleaner such as a K/N wouldnt my jet need to be larger than the stock size?I think its starving for fuel.

If you are running a clamp on style filter you will have to rejet.

It will only run when it is chocked about half way otherwise it acts as if it wont take the gas.

Try going up 7 points on your jet. Yes more air equalls more fuel. Sorry didnt know you were going to a K&N you didnt mention it.
