What is the best way to remove the lower ball joints form the spindles of a TRX450R? I cant seem to get them out and the tops were a cinch. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Loosen the nut.
Use a little wd 40
Use a brass punch and hammer.

2-3 hits it should drop out.

use a hammer and fork, an are you ready to get rid of the hubs, rotors, calibers, and spindles?

I loosen the nuts, but still on. Hold the upper a-arm and hit the spindle with a hammer(good hit and decent sized). usually 1 hit and the upper ball joint and second the bottom ball joint, just make sure you are precise with the hammer hit.

Just remember to leave the nut flush with the top of the ball joint so you don't damage the threads.

I always do that, but the nut still damages the threads because of the downward force of the hammer if you hit it too hard... I've junked 3 sets of stock a-arms because of that... I highly reccomend a piece of wood or a non-metal hammer like mentioned.

Here's what I do, it is by far the easiest method and doesn't damage the threads.

Flip the nut over on the balljoint stud and thread it back on upside down.

Take a couple of cheap sockets (you'll have to find what size fits best), and stack them under the ball joint stud. It helps to put washers on the ends of the sockets to prevent any marring.

Then all you have to do is back off the nut into the sockets and the balljoint will pop out of the spindle like a charm!

When you are starting out and have both balljoints still in the spindle, all you do differently is use one socket between the 2 nuts and back them off into each other. One will pop out first, then you simply use 2 sockets to get the remaining one out as I described above.

that is an awesome trick. i did it with one deep socket and some thick steel stock i had. this had me stumped for a while. now how do i remove the ball joints out of the a-arm without breaking anything? i am replacing a-arms. I took the c-clip off the top of the joint. now what?

What kind of a-arms do you have? If they are stock, you can't remove the balljoint.

I use a porta power to put pressure on the ball joints and then just hit the spindle with a hammer. Motion pro makes a tool that works similar to the socket idea. I just bought one but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Stock KFX450R A-arms. I know they can be removed because I have another set to replace them, and they did not come with the balljoints.
