like PIPELESS said its up northeast from you and me, but its worth the 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive up there, those lakes and rivers go on for miles

so what your saying is- take my new quad out onto a "frozen" (hopefully in thought) river or lake, have fun, and "hope" that its thick enough to support the weight of me and the quad?

LOL... SOUNDS LIKE FUN!! but i think its till to warm to get out on a lake right now, and especially not onto a river. i dont think id ever get out on a river. what happens when it breaks through, you go under and cant find another hole to get to for air.. i think i ll pass on that.
maybe i ll just go to brushy ridge one day this next week or two.

is that engrish or what? and who are you asking?
i have never been to brushy ridge before. so i have no clue. i know i could go to the badlands in Indiana and have a good ol time in the "dunes," but thats a pretty good haul from jacksonville, il.. and i imagine most places right now will have standing water in all the low lieing places, but everything else will have snow and frozen ground!

I went out to pistakee today to check it out. I would definatly NOT go on the ice yet. I'm not sure how the smaller lakes are but even so I wouldn't risk it yet.

well considering im only about an hour away from ya i think, its not too far off from being central il. i use that as a general overview of my living area so that people can realize somewhat where im at and ask questions then. its not a specific for me. im actually not from this area, im from the east side of the state 20 miles from the indiana line.
i will try to come ride at the different places once i find out whre the are, people to go with and so forth. i dont know anyone around here that rides, so its kinda tuff. and considering i just got a quad again after 2 1/2 years, i gotta get back into the swing of things.

i have a friend that lives on pistakee bay and he said he drilled through it to see how thick it is.. he said about 20 feet off the shore its 8 inches thick... tempting now.

www.lake-link.com i rely on this site a lot to know how thick it is. go to fishing reports i think it is and find the lake you want. It has ice levels and a lot of times the fishers tell areas to stay away from etc.

Man I miss living in Illinois just for the winter ridding. Its been 2 years since I went up there ridding. Hopefully I will make it up there before the winter ends to see family and I'll get to bring my quad. Have alot of farmers in the family with a bunch of land I cant wait. It sucks here in Alabama not many places to ride especially no ice ridding.
