Was able to get at the 'wheeler for about 20min or so today. It's been sitting for a while in a trailer, so it took a while to start. After letting it warm up for 5min or so and some putting around the driveway, it was all business!! Those Razr2's did impressively well in the amount of snow we had here today; better than my 400ex ever did with Holeshot XCR's of the same size- it clawed thru light drifts w/o much throttle at all, but I'm sure having skids helps. There's a nice little 'ramp' at the back of the yard leading into an open cornfield- it's fun to hit in 3rd-4th and catch a bit of air.

Razrs plain suck in the snow. Maxxis 4-snow's FTFW!

Oh I'm sure the 4-snow's are better, no doubt about it- I've thought about getting a pair based on all the good reviews posted about them. If I spent more time with my wheeler in the snow; it would be an easy pick, but I don't want to spend the money to put 22" or even 23" fronts back on to correct the funky handling, plus re-gearing for the larger rear tires for how much I actually get out. When I had my 400, I was surprised that I could make it thru reasonable snow with my XCR's, but the Razr2's are definitely a step up.

funky handling? re-gearing?

Dude - we're talking about ripping up trails in the snow right? Not competitive track racing. lol

If you've done much of any snow riding you know funky handling is part of it regardless of what fronts you run - once you learn to use the snow to your advantage - it's a whole new riding experience tehn riding dirt.

And I don't think you really need a regear - I never have. You're going with a slightly taller tire so you might lose just a tad low end and gain top end. You probably wouldn't notice it.

But again, as you've already said, you don't ride in it enough to justify the purchase. I personally do.

Here is a comparison video I made of Razr's VS 4-snows back to back.

1st run is razrs, second run 4-snows.

true, true - I'm just pointing out that IMHO the Razr's perform like garbage in powder.

But if you hardly get any snow and/or don't ride much in snow why buy snow tires I guess. I hear ya!

I do ride in a ton of snow and have 4-snows mounted on an extra set of wheels ready to go when powder calls.

Love snow riding!!:D

Icutmetl, not to hijack your thread but I got to know who makes that hood? I like it... I gotta get one

Oh no problem; it is a Maier hood. I believe they are discontinued, but I bought it brand new still in original bag from a member off of here that I did some parts trading with a while back. I can't imagine he'd mind if someone else contacted him to see if he had any more extras, but PM me if you're interested and I can shoot you his user name.
