Just thought I'd get some opinions on what you guys think... I've got a race Jan 7 I'm just throwing it together for but after that I'll tear it down again and do all the PCing properly and make the bike look minty fresh. :D

I believe it's antifreeze green.. I bought it that color so I'm not totally sure. It is incredibly bright lol.

what exactly has to be done to put the 426 in the ex frame?

differnt bushings to align the chain on the rear motor mount. new top and bottom motor mounts. new front motor horns. radiator mount. posibly a new oil tank and mount if you dont run a wet sump. and the frame will more than likely need notched out and a plate welded in for a better flowing intake.

sick looking build by the way .

hahah thanks. i will actually finish it, i promise lol. as soon as i get the oil tank made it will be up and running. I've still got plans for more bolt on aftermarket parts but money says i have to wait. I've got ASV levers, new chain, a blingstar grab bar and a new shifter on the way though. And I need to take it apart and powdercoat it all the way I want it afterwards. I'm loving the "shocker yellow" though. Definitely keeping the blue/green theme. My plastics are orange soo it looks really... different haha. Heres some pics of what I did today... grinded off your old nerfbar mounts... (sorry:p) put on my nerfs... ran all the electric and welded a bracket for the CDI box. Also figured out a way to get the stock intake tube in there (temporary). Radiator is just mocked up I gotta spray it again, some anitfreeze ate all the paint during shipping.

Keep the pics coming!

Watch the clearance on that large brass fitting you have on top on that cam cover.
Theres not a lot of room under there.....
I shimmed the fuel tank heat shield up in the rear w/some .125 washers...1/8 inch.

Makes room for the top of the carburator also.

What engine it that? Is it the one from the guy in Texas (brian)?

i've already mocked up the tank, the brass fitting clears... I got the motor off a "markvette" on the forums. its bored to a 446 with the auto decomp hotcams. UPS dropped it during shipping and broke a piece of the side case  but it should hold up with some JB weld for a couple races until I get a new case... My main concern right now is the oil tank and ive also got to modify one of the water spickets. Starting in January I'm going to make all the engine covers the same color as the A-arms, as well as an extended swinger. Then some hipers of course, as well as a PWR rad and carbon fiber quadtech shrouds (if i can find some!). Ceramic coat the exhaust... ohhh the list is long hahah

if you had your motor insured it will take you about a month to get anything for your claim from ups. with hours on the phone. if not your SOL. looken good though. keep up the good work

no it just takes some phonecalls with a bit (or a lot) of anger to hurry them up :). And you need to track down the number of the guy ordered to come inspect it... lol. They've already accepted my claim, they just have to contact the seller so he can let them know how much its worth. ;)

yup they told me that as well. and when they inspected it they tried to say it was packed incorectly. wich it was packed just fine. they just droped it and busted the oil drain bolt off. took a month of fighting with them to get my check in the mail.

konastank

yea i was worried they were going to say that. the guy who inspected it agreed it was there fault though. it was shipped in a container rated for 400lbs and it was 90lbs... and the container was shattered to pieces so you cant deny it was dropped lol

well... i finished it at midnight the night before the races!!! it is FAST! lol 10000 times better then my old 400ex motor, i loved riding it. unfortunately it felt way different and i had 0 riding time on it before going out there... and i crashed out in both my motos and DNFed lol.

yes it was a good deal thanks. it is leaking oil from the valve cover though.. i think it may just be a gasket.

your lucky it didnt run you over!

how do you like that yzf motor?

konastank
01-11-2010, 09:37 PM
i actually ended up high centering on the corner after that. i couldnt get it off and got pissed off and left the track. it was the 2nd last lap and i was in the lead by a long shot. i love it though. tons of torque. i was tripling sections that no one else was even attemping with ease. on the old 400ex i had nowhere near the power. i havent had it out of 2nd gear yet though because ive only ridden it at arenacross, but i can tell its going to be much faster.
