my 426ex needs a rebuild and i want to go through the whole top end/valvetrain. But i was looking on ebay and i saw a few cr250 motors for pretty cheep. i was wondering what the horsepower difference is..i know the 250 motor is a TON lighter especially with no electric start or battery. I have looked at the hybrid section and i see that the swap isnt really all that hard, i am a sheetmetal fabricator so the mounts and exhaust fab shouldnt be an issue. i was just wanting some opinions on whether its worth it or not, and some pro/cons. Thanks guys, Brewer

Well I don't know the exact difference between the horsepower numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if that CR250 zinged out 15hp+ over the EX engine, and as you say the weight difference would be quite a bit. I know my 250R feels a lot like my 400ex did except for being a TON lighter and better handling. I think the problem would lie in the vibrations. CR250 motors don't have counterbalancers like a TRX motor would.
