I was at a bike shop the other day, and a guy was saying that when he tried to start his 450r he gave it gas at the same time and it cracked his motor case. Can this happen or has anyone ever known of this to happen.

Yes it can and does happen. The carb has a throttle positioning sensor (TPS) that advances the timing depending how far open the throttle is. Never hit or hold the throttle open when starting a TRX450R. This is for both kick starts and electric.

wow I have enver heard that, good thing I don't have a 450r, it would be cracked by now im sure :p

I always hit the gas, thats the only way it will start right up.
