I am building a 250r hybrid that will be long travel and setup for xc. Should be a very nice hybrid when its all said and done.
I will post some updated pics as I add some more parts to it.

Loving your build so far. That frame color is one of my favorites.
I have to wonder why you would choose the 03 YZ motor for an XC bike though. Mine was totally not what I would have wanted for a woods bike. The gearing was way too high even with a 12 tooth front sprocket. Maybe with a Rekluse.

What year motor is a better one to you use then? Also is there anything that i can do to make this motor to make it better for the woods (Rekluse clutch, but anything else)
Also i was thinking about selling the baldwin top end and running just a stock or mild top end? What do you think?

The 03 and 04 YZ engines are the only years that came with the 4 speed transmission. These are arguably the BEST hybrid engines ever to be transplanted into a quad... for MX.
The transmission ratios are identical to the YFZ450 with no 1st gear. In other words, the 1st gear in your YZ is identical to 2nd gear in the YFZ, etc.
So basically you would be trying to ride your bike thru the woods, always taking off in 2nd. (compared to a YFZ). With mine, even geared down to a 12 tooth front sprocket and running 18" rear tires it was just too hard to crawl around the woods with it.
I would look into a newer YZ engine or maybe a 426 for better transmission ratios. Also, the WR450 transmissions of the same years are direct swaps into your cases. If your set on using the engine you have (which is a FANTASTIC engine) a rekluse should definately be considered. Be prepared to go thru clutchs.

The color is candy apple red, i actually want the frame to be a candy blue but i am not sure whether or not i want to spend the cash to have it pced when this powdercoat is in great shape besides some scratches or rub marks from certain mounting points????
