It has extended A-arms, and extended swingarm but no shocks yet?

Sounds like you need to get the rear shock converted, and get some aftermarket front shocks. That or some revalved 450R front shocks.

Do I need new shocks? I was thinking about getting them but I dont race or anything like that. It might have different shocks on it though I never even looked honestly haha.

1- If they look like, or are the same kind as these...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-HONDA-400EX-400-EX-FRONT-SHOCKS-SHOCK-STOCK-OEM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eaa0c974bQQitemZ20 0421447499QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

... Then Yes, they are stock, and Yes you need new/different Shocks

2- Dosent matter, the stock front shocks are junk, we commonly refer to them as "Pogo-Sticks". The rear stock shock, is actually not too bad, and has some adjustability to fine tune it a bit.

3- Time to go check it out.

here's the answer to all your questions, and even the ones you haven't thought of to ask yet...
http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=410964

It is a compilation of answers, and "how-to's", to many of the common early questions a new member has.

It was put together, courtesy of one of the Moderators here, to be a means of easy and quick access to these commonly asked about, subjects reguarding the 400ex.

It should keep you busy reading for a while, and you will find loads of valuable information there that many of us have tried and proven.

hope you enjoy.
And, Welcome to the forums.

How about a new air filter. But your bike prolly has one and you just didnt list it.

How do you not know if your shocks are stock, hahaha?

Yea I have an aftermarket filter with no lid. And I just got the quad a week ago and it has shockwears on it and I never bothered to look.
