well its one of those 440 top end kits that has a whole new cylinder thats already bored for a 440 piston. no need to re sleeve your existing one. its as if the top half of your motor just bolts on. heres a pic

- its a 440
- 11:1 compression

i would add
- stage 2 hotcam
- hd studs
- honda gaskets

how much hp we talking?

I'd say mid 30's depending on how well it's jetted.

make sure you re-do the clutch when people install the 440 kit the clutch isnt designed to handle that much power so a new heavy duty clutch basket should do the trick:D

I think these are a good idea... just makes sense.

I've been thinking about doing one.
Nothing to fool with... just put it on.

And then you still have a stock cylinder.

no the new top end is made for a 440 piston (89mm)
it comes with a weisco piston. but i think this would be the best as far as reliability goes

Most times a 440 piston alone is worth 3hp more. Make sure you put in a clutch basket as said before with someting like a Sparks clutch kit, they hold up very well.
Also before you put the jug on. On the bottom cases where the two halfs meet and the sleeve slides into make sure there isnt a high spot where the two halfs meet. If there is a high spot, just sand/grind it down so its flush.
What will happen if this isnt taken care of you could get a hot spot on the piston and more then likey get a cracked piston.
Also if you want to get the most out of you 440kit try to get a piston squish of no less then .037 tho inch and a max of around .040tho.

Do they makes pre-sleeved cylinders for 416 or 426 kits? I've looked but haven't found any. Always seemed like it would be the best way to go.

the 416 and 426 are just bored out stock sleeve's. The 440 the stock one is replaces with a larger one.

I think that would be a great seller just buy a jug (already bored for what ever brand-compression piston )piston, rings already gapped ,gaskets and just slap it together no machine shop wait or gouging. It would be plug n play!

something that might help you even more...

http://www.edelbrock.com/offroad/mc/carburetors/honda_atv.shtml#

says will do 40.3hp the 450r carb does 39hp on a 04 to 05 450r and e 400ex carb does 31.5hp

the 440 carb says it good with (directly from site) "Designed for highly modified race engines (cam, porting, higher compression piston, big bore) with no air box lid and full competition exhaust system.
Bore: 38mm round"

hope this help with your search!! it was sosmething i checked into when i thought about makin my 400ex a 440 along with what you said but i got a 450r instead but like i said hope it helps
