i'll make them out of anything you want... post a pic of what ever set up you want... PRIDE and death man do you want knobs? i wont beable to start till after the 5th... some one is going to have to post a pick of a knob... i dont know if i can get it just like theirs but i can get it close... or something that would work...

deathman53 thanks for the thread size.. since you have the knobs can you measure the outside diameter of the base for woodsracer so he knows what size to make these..

thanks a lot

I'll send him off the knobs, if he wants. I can measure it also. whichever he wants.

thanks a lot deathman!!! woodsracer i guess let death know which you would prefer. they dont have to be perfect or exact so if it would save you both a lot of hasel just go with the measurements. i dont want to be to big of a pain in the arse for anyone.. thanks again guys

you wouldnt be able to draw it up on cad would you? that would be the easiest way cause then i dont have the mic anything.. but it doesnt matter,

just post me a pick of the side shot so i can see the taper, then the smaller side and then the larger size, i can make them how ever you want,

just post me up some pics, i can get you something worked out,

im just going to have to write or draw out the dems

another pic i found but not a great one..it looks like that base is at least as big as the rubbers that go in the frame to align the rear of seat, i would make it 1 or 2mm bigger than the rubbers. and thats just a little spring that goes between the knobs so they wont unscrew while riding. i wish i could get some better pics for ya. mabe deathman is working on it for me. thanks

Here are some pictures of it. The file name is what the part being measured is IE: 9-44 is 9.44MM. The seat latch I used is for a 85/86 atc250r(quite rare), even though, the knob should be the same for trx seat latches and the rubbers are identical as trx aslo.

i dont have class untill this comming monday, i'll get started on them then...

i need to make 3 correct? or how many, im not sure who all wants one...

deathman,

im a little confused on the dems... the one file is 9-44 but mics at 9.55mm... so is each one that number it says on the file or .11 larger?

You could also just pull out the 5/16 studs from the aluminum posts and thread in 2 bolt/ fender washers. This is what I did with my OMF seat locks.

I made a mistake, I just caught it and corrected the post, Sorry.

woodsracer144
01-02-2010, 12:38 PM
so just the 9-44 is the only one thats wrong, and thats a 9.55 mm? then the rest are correct....

so far im making just 2 knobs... or does some one else need them...

troy if you want you can, the only thing im not sure how im going to do is where you grab it to twist, i dont have a CNC that i can use at the time, so im doing it all by had crank... but my shop teacher said he had an idea for me so im going to see what that is tomorrow...

250rPRIDE
01-05-2010, 02:53 PM
woodsracer you dont have to make them exact. you are doing me a favor so dont make it to hard on yourself. anything you can mabe notch the outter knob with or something for grip will be fine
thanks again man!!!

woodsracer144
01-05-2010, 02:57 PM
no, i dont want them to be also... that way OMF cant come after me for makin them...

its also just a 5/16 for sure, i find that a really small stud for being a seat clamp... thats just about a 3-8 of an inch....

troybilt
01-05-2010, 03:01 PM
Let me get you better pics and I can also measure the threads for you. It is a small stud, 5/16" sounds right, but I can check for you.

My omf latch is standard 5/16 thread. I have an extra set of OMF nuts. I'd have to dig them out. My bike has, or had, the "small" OMF nuts on it. I bought a set off of ebay and they are larger where you grab and don't fit my LRD chassis. I use regular nuts and fender washers. haha If someone needs the OMF nuts I have, let me know.

01-05-2010, 07:26 PM
pride can you post or check out your threads are... cause the metal is about a inch in dia. and thats about 3/8's.... i would have thought they would have been about a half atleast... i didnt tread it yet cause i wasnt sure if what i wrote down was right...

woodsracer144
01-06-2010, 02:19 PM
alright, i got one most the way done, i just need to polish it up a little for you... i started on the other one but i stepped out of the class and got a bite to eat and came back and the one bit that i was using was the only one we had, and some Dumb *** went and broke it on me! so with out that i was having a hard time.... but here are the pics..

looks great man!!! you will have to go by what the others told you on the thread size.. i trust them. my bike is in storage and i am not sure with i will be able to get to it to check.. i know they are not a half inch for sure. i would make more sense but who knows what they were thinking

woodsracer144
01-07-2010, 06:34 PM
alrighty... i'll see what i can do...
250r PRIDE, pm me your address... so when i can get these done i can get them shipped out to you... hows 15 bucks for the knobs sound? that would cover my time and the metal... shipping should be under 8... it takes me almost 4 hours to do one, that includes set ups changing cutters, taping them... every thing from the start of cutting off the little chunck to the finished product... unpolished...

i dont want to be mean and over price things at the same time i would like a little something for my time cause it takes so long... let me know what you think... i know a new clamp runs about 45-50 bucks...

glad you posted that I'm gonna hold off for now, might even see about putting fatter pins in place of the bolts and use pins to hold them(can't think of the right name for that style pin) anyways thanks again and hope to not have troubled you. I understand you have build time and all but I need my $$$ to go to bearings and stuff right now thanks

the thread pitch is : 5/16-18. im making a pair for myself when my boss is out for the day. we have a machine shop and i do have a background in machining all though my job is an engineer.

im going to use nylon to make my knobs. very durable, a lil expensive, but its on the company:devil:
