they are 2 12" Kenwood KFC-W3085, 700 watts a piece, 8ohm dual coils, and a frequency response of 25Hz to 800Hz. they are in a sealed box.

Could someone explain what all that means and what amp setup would work best? im new to this car audio stuff just got them in a trade.

thanks alot!

Well first off, how much are you willing to spend?

since they are dual 8 ohm subs you will be able to wire them in a series to pull 4ohms so you want a 2 or 4 channel bridgeable amp that is 4ohm stable when bridged.

you can use a 2ohm or 1ohm amp but it wont put the power out that you want unless ur pulling the amount of ohms its stable at. however if u put 2 dual 4ohms in a series they will be pulling a 1 ohm load and if you dont have a 1 ohm stable amp you will fry it in a few hours or less. you amp and subs have to match for a good strong sound and reliability.

sony xplod sales amps at walmart that would be 4 channel and bridgeable at 4ohms. however they are not the best amps. but would power the kenwoods pretty good.

JL audio amps are the best IMO but they are a mono block (1) channel 1 ohm amps.

ive used audiobahn amp and it was actually a good amp. you can find amps here and there that are gonna say 2000 watts. yeah right thats a scam but thats how they sale them. if you want to know what the amp really puts out take the number of fuses it has and the amp size of fuse and multiply it by 10 example 2 30 amp fuses would be 600watts 4 30 amp fuses 1200 watts. 2 10 amps 200watts. and you get the point. dont buy knock off amps for 2 and 3 hundred dollars when u can get the same thing at walmart for same price

Check this

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/Global/Consumer/Manuals/KFCW3085.pdf

Those subs are only rated at 175 watts RMS, that 700 is peak, you dont wanna base your amp off of peak power.

Also according to that those subs arent dual voice coil, but that link will show you how to wire them to parallel anyhow (to reach a 4 ohm load)

you looking for an amp pushing 3-350 rms @4ohm, i wouldnt overpower them subs too much at all.

hope this helps

I heard hifonics had great amps, no personal experience though. On ebay they have BRAND NEW hifonics subs (2) 12" shipped to your house for only $62.00!! needless to say I bought some, and they sound as good as my girls jlw3 12"s. If someone is looking for the cheapest brand new subs they have, I suggest these

Go with a 1000 watt mono, and it will push them as hard as they need to be pushed. Dont buy cheap amps, go with a reputable brand atleast 1000 watts d class and you will be very satisfied.

I'm running a Roxford Fosgate MTX Punch P1 12" sub with an Alpine amp.

Don't know how many watts the amp is though. Sounds pretty good.
