I have heard good things about the xr cam along with the 450 cam chain. Alot of people use the 450 chains also with zero problems. It is def alot heavier duty and will not stretch easily. there is some good info on this cam and a bunch of others in this thread.

I liked my stage 1 hotcam. The XR cam is just a mild cam. I dont think I'd bother tearing it down just for the XR cam unless you get it for free or something.

you shouldnt have to take the head off at all to change a cam. you will just have to take off the valve cover and take right side cover off with the clutch. you have to take the plates out, unbolt the basket, and run the new chain. this is a pretty easy task and would require a side case gasket and a cover gasket.

no prob bro i just wanted to clear that up for him so he doesnt think he needs a whole top end kit to do a cam install. although a full kit would be good since it would have both in it and if he needs any other gaskets he has them already instead of buying each seperate and paying shipping and such twice or more. steve

Thanks for the info.... Im wondering if an xr cam would make any real difference or if a stage 1 hc is the way to go?

dont forget you got to take the oil pump off, while your there pull your oil pick up filter screen out and clean it
