Motor issue

I have a 2003 Honda 250ex. Did a complete motor rebuild early in the year and the bike ran fine all summer. Went to start it up this afternoon and it started popping and smoke was coming out of the side of the head. Also appears that there is a little oil coming out around the gasket. I'm assuming this maybe a head gasket problem seeing as how I went cheap with the gasket kit (Tusk top end gasket kit, my mistake). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also have a complete HMF exhaust if it helps.

i think you answered your own question.

put it back together with a set of quality gaskets and see how it does.
