I had my R out on friday night in that blizzard we had here. It ran great and shifted very smoothly.Toward the end of the night it started finding nuetral going from first to second and eventually was hard to shift. Other than the clutch what are some other things to check?

You are absolutely correct. Can I file the grooves out of the basket or should I just buy a new basket?

you can file them if its minor. myself i would get a new billet basket of some kind. once you file them they shift around as all the tabs dont hit at the same time anymore because of not being perfect. this will accelerate wear on the ones with less wear until grooved again. dont throw away old basket !!!!! you will need the gear and rubbers from it on your new one!!!! you grind rivets off old one for new one. it will be like butter again....trust me:D

as mentioned, inspect the basket assembly and if the basket is the culprit. do a search on PE performance engineering. they have a heluva basket for the price.
