I just got my 400Ex last year and I dont know much about quads, I can race them but when it comes to workin on them or tuning im in the dark, my bike came with the 440 kit but i have been told by all my friends the 416 is the way to go. I have yet to have ne problems with my 440 but i also run amsoil full synthetic and change it ever few races. My 440 can keep up with the 450R's in my area and besides the 440 kit all I have done it a pipe and a race clutch..I still gotta find what else I can do or need to..

i love my 426, and i completely rebuilt it, from the ground up, completely rebuilt the motor, the 426 is my personal fav, it gives you the power and pull you want while still revving quickly and not completely maxing out your bore, with a 440 bore if you were to ever blow it or something you cant just bore up, a 440 is the highest you can go while still having it reliable, but with a 426 if something ever happened you would still have the option of boring up again, i went with a 426cc wiseco 11:1 comp piston, and i love it, my other engine mods are in my sig

see i didnt know what i wanted to do a 440 or 426 ive herd alot of better things out of the 426's than 440's. i think ill prolly look around for a good deal on 426.

the 426 is the last bore for the stock sleeve.

I just finished my 416 and let me tell you its got plenty of power now.. I did a 11:1 416 kit with Stage 2 Hot Cams.. I also replaced timing chain with HD chain and did a mild P&P on head.. I also added a stage 2 CDI and Monster coil.. The last but most important thing was the Edelbrock carb (440) and full HMF Exhaust and now this thing moves.. I am waiting for rims to get here and its done.. You will like the 416.. It gets to max rpm fast and with other upgrades your bike will have plenty of power..

im looking into a 416 as well they make good power and if you blow it up you can always bore it over more. and with a cam and pipe itll open it right up

for the mud and sticky stuff they are great. I have even used them on a track or two. lol. they are a great all around tire since they stay flat like a razr or something racy but dig in with 1" lugs all over them. I usually gear down to a 14 when i use them too. They are are a bit on the heavy side too but it is worth the trade off for muddy trails or something. I dont really use them much anymore since there is no air box lid or anything to make it water proof for the mud. steve
