I did all the work myself. If you buy a big bore kit with the new jug, it just bolts right up. But if u buy the kit with just a new sleeve you have to have it sent into a machine shop to press the new sleeve in. But in my point of view if your going to put in a big bore kit you would be better off buying a kit with the new jug because by the time you pay to have it sent in and redone, it will cost about the same amount to just buy the kit with the new jug.

did you take the motor out just to put the new jug on?

I took the whole motor out because i was thinking i had to replace the crank. Before i put the big bore kit in the motor began making a knocking noise. It ended up just being the cam chain tensioner and i replace the timing chain. But to put a new jug on you do not have to take the whole motor out it is nessary. I just took the whole motor out to figure out if i needed to replace the crank or not.

I currently have the big bore kit as well, I plan on adding the CRF450 timing chain and upgrading to a Stage 2 hotcam, i was curious as to what your valve lash was for intake and exhaust, this is the only thing stopping me right now, I have looked and can't find the info.

For my Intake valve the clearance is .005 inches and for the Exhaust its .006

How do you like the 440 with the stage 2? Any problems, downfalls, did you do anything to your stock rev limit.

to put a sleeve in you just have to heat the cylinder up to about 300 degrees then use a regular press to get it out and then freeze ur new one and have the cylinder hot and it will drop right in,

I love the 440 and its a good combination with the stage two hot cam. And i have a AMR stage two rev liminator. And i would rather have a machine shop do the resleeving for me just because its a little bit more safe and remember they are professinals.

How do u think they do it? some sleeves do have to be cut out with a boring machine. its all just meansurements.
