Can you shorten timing chain?

i get a 89 warrior and i need to shorten the timing chain is it possible?
or any ways to do it?

are you shortening because its stretched? if so, throw it away, if you shorten it it will continue to stretch and sooner or later the pin distance in the chain wont line up with sprocket teeth and it will jump timing, get a new one.
