Hey everyone, thanks for all your help so far, but i would like to keep upgrading my 400 but dont know whats left to do. Does anyone have any advice of what i can do next for more power without boring my engine? i dont want to bore it until i have to.

So far i have:
Motoworks Slip-on
FMF Powerbomb Headers
K&N Air Filter (No Lid)

Thats for Power

What else can I do to get more power??

And for I also Full Flight A Arms and a G-Force Axle.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

timing advance key? cam? machine work on the head? theres quite a few things you can do short of a bore...displacement doesnt really make THAT much of a difference, you can get more power from others mods just as well...

Sparks +6° key, monster coil, new tires, 450 shocks, EHS lid if you're getting too much crap in your air box, 450 carb.

Ok thanx everyone. Where could i find a monser coil? and where should i look for a 450r carb? and with a 450r car and monster coil what kinda of power gains would i be looking at. I have new tires coming for christmas, would i be more likely to blow fuse with a monster coil?

i have had a monster coil on my 400 for like 2 years now and never popped a fuse due to that. my ground worked loose once thow and that kept popping fuses for a day or two. good luck, but i dont suggest the amr cdi/coil combo they have on ebay. it lets the rpms go to high, and the 400ex dont use the topend power like that provides. just get the coil. you should look on ebay or craigslist for the carb thow. i would say if you want some gain youll be happy... if your looking for a race winning beast then no. you need to go bigger. for your average rider thats plenty of power.

i wanna go for a race winning beast but dont wanna open the engine until i have to when i blow my top end. I blow 2 fuses yesterday in the snow idk how. But where would find a monster coil? and would i be better off buying an esle brock carb then a 450r carb? i want the most power possibke but want some reliablilty to. Should i go for the edle brock?

never experienced either carb fristhand but the doug ehcner carb and i hated that. it would randomly lean out on me for no apparent reason. and the thing was new. and my riding buddy got one for his 416 and it did the same thing. almost 400 dollars to waste on something no good. id go with the 450r carb. pro racers have used it and liked it. give it a whirle for less than half the price.

i think the 39mm fcr carb would be the best carb to buy for performance but it will cost you two or three times more then 450r carb i paid $520 but with the performance gain i got it was money well spent.

If you change your carb while you got the tank off drop a cam in thats a good mod that only takes 30 min and it will really help you out with the mods you have.
