Anyone using this front end? I'm thinking of doing that & havin my stock shocks rebuilt. G force axle & that should make me a motocrosser? I'm running an 07 450R - black & the burgandy frame.

Everyone adds new front ends - Is it hard to line everthing up once your bolted into place? Any pointers? Thanx

I have the burgards but with fox floats. The only thing I can complain about is their tie rods seem very cheap. Ive gone through a bunch and am thinking about trying some carbon fiber ones. Hopes this helps

It's a sweet setup. I second that about the weak tie rods, and ball joints I might add.. But their service is great. They'll ship them same day with one phone call. I rock an 06 with 05 spindles, Burgard +2's, and a lonestar axle and absolutely love it.

So what should do about that. Get tierods and ball joints from someelse?. Then what about the smc set up? I only want to make one purchase and be done with it. Still searching then
Shift did you get the +1 forward or not?

I havent found the carbon fiber tierods many places so Iam not sure what your best bet is. regular tierods are preety cheap so its not that big of a purchase

The cheaper burgard arms are junk. They're designed using the smaller balljoints, which look more like tie-rod ends than balljoints. They can and will break, and the bottom arm will dig into the ground and you will go over the handlebars. I've seen it first hand a few times.

Burgard does sell a better set of arms with the "heavy duty" balljoints, but they're comparitively priced with everyone else. Good arm none the less.

You can use 1969 VW bug tie rod ends for replacement balljoints, they're $15 from auto zone and the likes.

I'd recommend staying away from them though personally.

SMC makes a great set of affordable arms, and lifetime warranty...

What's with the carbon tie rods? Dont forget the tie-rod is designed to be weaker than the rest of the setup, so when you have an accident, you bend a tie rod and only have to replace a tie rod, you dont end up bending a-arms and frames, which are much more expensive to replace.

Yea I have the +2+1's. No complaints about push steer or any other b.s. You'll be fine with the baseline ones. Don't let me scare you with telling you I've broke and bent some... These things happen when you rip! If you land the wrong way off (crash!) of a step-up you'll bend a tie rod regardless, or If you crash into the rear rack of a 4x4, or smack a fence post with your tire, you're more then likely going to break a ball joint, regardless of what kind you have...

I've personally watched them break while my buddy was in the middle of a race, going up the take off a jump. Snapped and tossed him over the bars, he didn't "hit" anything. It broke because they're WEAK. Look at those arms, then look at any other aftermarket arm, they use smaller balljoints.

I agree stuff will break if you're running into stuff, but I've never broken a balljoint on the Houser stuff or JB stuff we've used.

Also the +1 forward arms WILL push more than the +0 forward arms on the 450R. It's not an opinion, its math. There is no need for the +1 forward arms on the 450R frame.

Exactly. In fact some have tried converting them to 16mm by drilling out the arm, but I wouldn't recommend it as the material on the arm becomes very thin and dangerous...

I'm thinking the idea behind the tie rods is them sort of giving a little when you a tree or what not. But, I would think they would just shatter if they took a good enough hit. Also alot of dragracers use them to shave weight.

I've drilled out a set of Burgard arms before to accept 16mm balljoints, and never had a problem the remaining material failing. I only ran them 3 or 4 months though.

For only 70bux more I'd go for Houser or JD over Burgard any day. Just my opinion.

I'd think aluminum would do a better job at "giving" and do it at a MUCH cheaper rate. I'm sure carbon one's are cool, but unnecessary IMO.

That's good to know about the drilling out of the burgards, never really knew anyone who did that, just all here-say. It's something that shouldn't really have to be done anyways...

I have had 3 sets of burgard +2 a-arms, standard travel, on various quads, No complaints for the price. the burgards on my 400ex bent when I hit a tree stump. Running them with stock 450r shocks. Also ran burgard +2s on my yfz450 with elka shocks, no complaints at all. Currently running burgard +2s on my trx450r with stock shocks. Not the best set-up in the world, but gets the job done. I am building a new front end, bought a pair of houser tric trac max ground clearance +2.5 a-arms. I will let you know how they work too.

Sorry for the un-orderly, mis-spelled, horrible post, its Christmas eve and I'm a lazy **** and dont feel like proof reading this.
