What Brake Setup Can/Should I Use On My 250r Hybrid??

I have 450r calipers and im pretty sure the rest is 400ex on my 400ex hybrid now. For my 250r lsr hybrid i am trying to figure out what i can and can not use?

I have all 400ex brake setup too so can i use all 400ex brake setup or do i have to use something 250r as far as caliper, spindles,etc???

Im just not sure what you can and can not use together and also which is the best setup to use that i already have, because i dont have any 250r calipers, spindles, etc!!

you can use most 400ex parts on the 250r hybrid, you can't use the brake pedal and master cylinder. If you are using 450r front calipers, you must have 450r spindles, they can't be mounted on a 400ex spindle. you can put 250r calipers on a 400ex with adapters. I don't know of any adapters to use 450r calipers on a 400ex spindle.

Ok, so if i use all 400ex brake parts, meaning spindles, hubs, calipers, rotors, master cylinder, etc. then it will all work?

And as far as the rear goes i do have a 250r rear caliper, so all i will need is a brake pedal and rear master cylinder off of a 250r and i will be good to go!

yeah, you can use(I and alot of others do) a 400ex or 250r front master cylinder, they are nearly identical, except the price tag and color. I have one with a 250r master and the other has a 400ex. If you wanted to also, you can use a 450r front master. The newer 06+ 450r and 400ex front masters have a brake switch built-into them, if you wanted to hook up a brake light, then all you will need is a brake sensor banjo bolt to the rear master, some wiring(depending on the atv/dirtbike stator w/ a/c or d/c power)and you can have dual brake lights. I personally would use 250r front calipers w/ adapters for 400ex spindles. My hybrid originally had 400ex front calipers, I bought 250r caliper adapters and used 250r calipers on my hybrid(400ex spindles), its so much better. Hey, just thinking, isn't it pretty sad that we are talking about 20+ yr old parts being as good, if not better than 2010 ones?? 450r calipers are right on par with 250r calipers, where 400ex calipers are a big step backward.
