what are some good idea's on gearing for xc racin?
i got the bike with 13/39 but i think thats too low, but then again ive never raced xc before.i was thinking of going 14/38.
really dont know whats done to the motor internally but its got a 38mm carb and 20" holeshot xcr's. what would u guys reccomend?

Lou I'd leave it the way it is for now. Ride the mofo a bunch in the woods especially were there's lots of hill climbs and get used to it..

Send Rowlrag a PM and ask him what's been done to the motor...I believe it's got reeds and the pipe and thats about all..Rowlrags a good dude and a mechanic,,he'll answer all your questions I"m sure..

Ahh, Decided to try a little XC, eh? I kinda figured by your comments in the XC pics thread that you'd never raced one before...

Anyhow...

I run 16/38 gearing and 20" rear tires on my EX - 13/39 or 14/39 will probably work well on an R depending on how the engine's power is.

Just remember, if those trees get to moving too fast, just slow down, no biggie. LOL...

dont worry im not afraid of the trees, im used to ridin mx so a stroll through the woods is no big deal.:cool:
