I have a chance to trade my 2001 250ex with normal mods for a 2003 rm 85 big wheel or a 99 rm250 and 300 bucks each bike is in fairly good shape. i would like to go with the rm 250 but its gonna be my first dirtbike and i dont wana go to big but common sense would tell you to take the nicest model you can. I have been racing quads for 4 years and riding quads in general for 6 years. i would be using the bike like i used the 250ex for just to beat on and to ride local pits etc. i just dont know if the rm250 would be to much for me as my first bike im not a idiot i wouldnt go wide open and kill myself but i dont want to waste it by cruising around in 2nd gear. I want to learn to ride a dirtbike thats why i thought the 85 big wheel would be perfect then i checked my email and saw the rm250. any input appreciated.

thanks James

well i would take the 85 but the big wheel's dont have as much punch as the regular ones becuase of the larger wheels.. i had a buddy with a cr85 with that.. and it was a turd!

the 250 would be a bit much... i had a yz125 and that thing had more then enough balls for me!

but as all things you take the time with it you will get better...

if it were me i'd go with the 250 once you get the 85 and ride it good you'll want a bigger bike and in this ecomny you'd be able go get $700-800 out of it

just start riding easy and you'll be fine my first bike was a ktm 250 bored 50 over i couldn't even start it
have you ever rode a dirt bike much
