how do i get the axle bearings out of the carrier to replace them? i know there is a lip they sit down onto but how do they come out? they are way beyond needing replaced and it a winter tear-down time. please guys any help is very appreciated. thank in advance.

I put my carrier in the oven when it's preheated to about 300 degrees. The aluminum expands faster than the steel bearings. They sometimes fall out or you simply tap them out with a punch or long screwdriver.

That's what I do, I'd be interested to know what other methods are.

Hope this helps.

I do a similar thing, but with a torch. Others use a hot plate. When I re-install the bearings, the carrier gets heated again and bearings are in the freezer +2 hours, they drop in and you hold the bearings in for several minutes, as the heat/cool tries to force the bearings out.
