well then line up the t mark, when the t mark is lined up you are always at top dead center but you could be on TDC on the compression stroke or the exhaust stroke, you should be adjusting your valves when you are at TDC of the compression stroke, when you are on Comp. stroke then your rocker arms will have slop in them, you will be able to wiggle them a bit, make sure you adjust them at the proper spot or it will be way off.

Did you at least check before you adjusted them?

and please explain to me how its any different with an aftermarket cam? all your valves are still gonna be closed no matter what kind of cam you have in there when u adjust them so that statement that jdog made makes no sense whatsoever.

aftermarket cams have different valve clearances

well jdog im not to be a dick but please where can u get the info on the different valve clearances for hotcams because i have a stage2 and i set the valves per the book and it runs great. the cam lobes arent even touching the rocker arms when u set the clearances so thats why it doesnt make sense to me to have a different clearance for a bigger cam,

All hotcams have the same valve lash whether its a stage 1,2,or 3 0.13mm intake and 0.15 exhaust (divide mm values by 25.4 for inches)

where is that info available? i wasnt aware they had a different spec for those cams but honestly the difference is so minimal if doesnt make much difference
