Im looking at getting a sled. I had a F7 Snow Pro a few years back and loved it. I live in IL so we dont have much terrain and Im a huge mx guys so I like to have a good suspension under me. Can anyone suggest a good sled. I was kinda thinking a MXZ, Apex, or F8. I dont really care if its two or four but ive been out of the loop for a while any suggestions.

Your best bet would be a new XP chassis MXZ 600 RS, or you can get into an Arctic Cat Sno Pro so that you have the Fox shocks. I've never been a fan of Yamaha's sleds or 4 stroke sleds ... so I would stick with either a Cat or Ski-doo.

I know up here, there's a big push to sell a bunch of Cat sno pro 600s because they need to sell atleast 300 in order to qualify for snowcross and they haven't reached that number yet.

If you go with an older sled, I'd say an 07 ski-doo MXZ 600 X-RS or the 800 X-RS . It's basically a 440 race chassis with the 600 or 800 in it. And most come with reverse and of course all the race shocks and bracing.

right now the IQ suspension has been rated the best suspension by several different people, magazines, etc however the 2008 800s engines need to be reflashed and dual ring pistons or they dont have longetivety. the 600s have great power and run great. thats the iq consumer sleds though.
the IQr is a great racer and ditchbanger, very tough but solid suspension however for trails and such oil injetion should be added cause its easier.
2008 rev xp's (skidoo) have a whole bunch of recalls however the 2004-2007 revs were great alot of people like them
the f7's ive heard are pretty good from severall people.

overall i think that a 136 track would be the best to get... this way its perfect for trails and if you go off trail you got a little extra for the deep stuff.
600 700 800 all have great power and with any of them your not going to be complaing about power

its really about what brand you like, what feels best, and what more comfortable. got to some dealers sit down on some sled see what you like, ride some friends sleds and then make your decision.
most likely you can set you sled up for what you like with stuff as clutching, gearing, engine mods and suspenion. i had a xc 600 with a 121 and it was setup for powder, total trail sled but i set it up for powder and it worked just fine.
just see what YOU like.

The new arctic cats do not run even close to as good as the older f series so don't buy one expecting it to run like your f7. They weight a lot more also but they do ride a little better for trails. The f7 is faster then the new arctic cat 1000. I would look for another f7.

f7 is the older sit down sled design. get something with the rider forward position. go over to hardcoresledder and read up on why everything sucks.

I have had a few sleds with diffrent track length, I would recomend a 800 dragon or xp or cat with a 162 track. The little tracks suck for getting out into the depp stuff. Trails suck and depending on who you ride with you wont be on them for long.

To date the coolest thing in the sled world that I have ridden is a rev. It feels just like a quad only a little heavier. I would look for any rev style sled from 03-07. The XP sleds are cool but I have heard of problems with them being new models and all.

i bought a 08 ski-doo xp TNT, put 4 new shocks in it and added some braces, like quad star said, see if you can get a mxzx rs 800, same chassis as the race sleds but with more trail oriented stuff and oil injection

f7 is not rider forward, on a f7 you sit on the back of the sled at the end of the seat more then anything, rider forward is like the rev where you ride it and hug the gas tank

The older F7s (specifically the '03) ran really good....Though the firecat chassis has a lil something to be desired in handling compared to other sleds in its class. The newer Crossfires are a glorified and more refined firecat if thats what you want....If you want another F7 get a '05+ as you sit up more, but still not really rider forward. Many will say the older ZRs were better handling by far. The new F series are good sleds just on the heavy side, I hear the ride is second to none though. The new SnoPro is supposed to be where its at. Apparently they sold enough of them cuz Cat dominated in Duluth at the SnoX opener. I'm Cat person but I hear great things about Polaris's IQ 600RR. I like the neighbors '04 600 Rev except for the beaver tail on it. It's all in what you want though.

I think Im going to run to the cat dealer and see what I like. I loved my F7 and I had a ZR600 I dont know how anyone could compare either of those quads lol. Most of the snow is now melted hear. But Im really interested in the F8 does anyone has one?

the NEW F8's are suppose to scream but you'd be payinmg msrp if you bought one. find a leftover 08 and you should be plenty happy with it. remember that sleds have very bad resale value;)

My uncle has an F8 Tony Stewart edition.... he loves . He likes the infinite rider positioning ... the handling and the power it puts out. He's trying to convince me to buy a Cat ... but I'm a Doo guy. LOL If I was going Cat i'd be buying a Crossfire 600.

Well if your an MX guy and like the quad riding style any of the XP chassis sleds will be a great choice. The new F8 is also damn good... thing hauls! Just depends on how much you want to spend. I work at Bikeman Performance so if you ever need anything let me know.
