The other day i was talking to someone i know and i was telling him of a story of some drag races we had one day. I only lost to one quad every time and that was a 700 kfx. But besides that i beat a banshee with pipes a 08 400ex with same mods as me (slipon kn jet) a very basic 440 no cam or anything some other 400. Do you have any stories to prove this?

I wouldn’t go by just that, too many variables that affect a run down a drag strip.
Power is great but if you don’t put it to the ground right you will loose the race.
If you have bad tires or bad technique you won’t do as well as someone with less power but has better tires and technique.

I do know a motor will have a sudden burst of power just before it runs out of gas.

There's an old saying that goes...
A bulb burns brightest just before it blows.

Nothing you can do about a light bulb,
But an engine is a different story.

Assuming that all other things are equal and good,
You might want to insure that you dont have any air leaks in your intake boot, and that your carb is clean with no dirt inside.

Which 450?

A motor runs good before it goes because everything is loose, less friction. Then it just gets too loose and boom.

and the leaner the fuel/air mixture is the better it runs. just not for long lol

mine ran good for about 2 days then it just started to smoke badly and lose compression

Not really. You can be too lean to the point where making it richer runs better.

you beat a piped banshee :ermm: ................you must have a hell of a motor or the banshee had bald tires in wet grass.

I would imagine that a motor would run worse before it blows because of lower compression and what not

Some people build the motors "loose" in race karts because there's less friction. When i say loose, they bore the cylinder a little larger than what the piston requires. It makes them run alot stronger but they don't last very long. So when a motor is to the point of needing a rebuild it'd run slightly better than when it was new because the cylinder is wore and there's not as much friction
