What will you be using the truck for?

V6's in fullsize trucks such as the silverado are pigs on gas, you would be better off goin with a v8.

true that, in my s10 zr2 i get 16 to 19 mpg in my 2wd i got around 20 most of the time. if you get a silverado get a v8 it will be more effiecient.

Most of the V8's get better mileage than the 6 bangers.

Like all these guys said, definitely get one with a V8! Better on gas and of course, more power!

Have you looked into Colorado's?

Don't get a truck with a 4 cylinder. They are gutless. You will not be happy with it.

I'll have to agree with you here i have a truck with a 4 banger.... practically useless

thats why i went out and gotta fullsize bronco with a 302 lol go with a V8 you wont be disseminated as long as you dont lift it and put to big of tires on it your gas mileage should be ok

Get a V8. A 6 cylinder is already underpowered. Throw 400 lbs in the back and it'll be even worse.

The V6 is the same on gas because that engine has to work harder just to do the same work the V8 does with ease. Silverado's are a dime a dozen... you can find them anywhere with the 5.3 or 4.8 in them.

i have an '08 Silverado. power is AWSOME! id never reccomend anyone to get a midsise pick-up or anything less than a V-8.

just a heads up, my Silverado gets 14L-100KM's in the summer and 15L-100KM winter driving. and mine is a 5.3L V8 Z-71 with the flex fuel E-85 and the 4cyl shut-off.

the 6 banger in the full size isn't good on gas. my dad has an 06 2wd reg cab 8ft silverado and gets 20mph highway at best. the v8 id say is better.

i had a straight 6 in my old f150, it wasnt to good on gas when it was stock height. i lifted it and put 35s on it and i got maybe 8mpg lol

I have a 98 S-10 4.3 V6 with a 5 speed trans. It will pull two quads on my 14ft trailer with me and a buddy and all of our gear and parts to the track. All that and still run 75mph down the road. I once pulled the same trailer with two quads, a dirt bike and a trx 90 in the bed down the road at 75mph. A S-10 with a 4.3 is like a full size with a v8.

S10 4.3 5spds are capable of getting 25 mpg and have plenty of power for anything the suspension can handle. (obviously not as much as a fullsize) I'd steer clear of 4.3 s-10s that are autos. They don't feel like they have the same power, and get much worse mileage. 20 at best.

Totally have to disagree. I have an 03 S-10 with the 2.2 4 cylinder and getting 27-29 mpg!:eek2: Does the job I need and also good in the mud. This year at the Titan when everyone in 4x4s were getting stuck pulling in, Sturdivant took my truck straight to the Can-am trailor passing all the stuck 4x4 trucks.:macho

If you ever plan on hauling a quad in the bed you'll hate the s-10. i had one for a while and got incredibly tired of pulling up over the wheel wells with my YFZ and trying to pick it up and maneuver it off the truck. got a 93 1500 chevy and have no complaints other than fuel mileage, but thats mostly my fault with the lift and tire choice.

yeah this is a thing that sucks with mini trucks and it sucks trying to load the quad by yourself but its do able.

yea its very doable. it just got old quick. i wanted a bigger truck anyway more room and more power. plus its better offroad because of the limited slip. open difs are the dumbest thing... well second after torsion bar ifs

not all of s10's are open difs mine is limited slip and the full size 1500 trucks will have torsion bars aswell but it depends on the year. But i do agree that it sucks.

the s-10 i had was an open diff and i hated it. my s-10 blazer i have now has a limited slip. once i get the money im planning on doing a solid axel swap to my 1500. get rid of that stupid front end setup

I looked into doing that to mine, but the only problem was I didn't see any mildy lifted trucks. I have a 85 that is lifted. I wouldn't want to go any bigger than 33s on my 97.

I have limited slip on my S-10.

i'm looking to go big with mine. i'd like to run 38's on it at some point in time. that will be well on down the road however because i enjoy racing entirely too much to give it up and devote all my $$ toward building a truck
