Time for an exo cage? Not bad looking rig you have there. Looks like you have some work in her. I have 2 big bearing 9'' so I'll probably use one of them. It's a little easier to weld link bars to, or I could truss the 8.8. I have a bunch of fiberglass waiting to go on, but I need to get tube for a bumper, a few more parts from a newer ranger, and a lot of time to finish it. Why I went with a conversion kit is now beyond me lol. It's rather time consuming and expensive. For what I have in my ranger it's alright so far. More of a fun toy than anything. I'm still tossing around the idea of trading in my f150 for a new ford raptor. I want one...

Well it's not a samurai, jeep, or geo, but may as well toss up some pics...

My neighbor used to have a lifted geo on 35's and a pretty sick locked, linked, and SASed samurai.

Oh yeah, there was alot of work and money put into that thing. I parted it out a few months ago so no need for an exo cage. I should've never gotten rid of it. That thing was fun to drive.

I would go with the 9". Your tire won't fall off if you break an axle...lol...What kind of conversion kit are you talking about??SAS??

You could always get a C clip eliminator kit, but IMO not worth the money when you could just remount a 9".

I got a one piece 03 style ranger conversion glass kit. I need to get a newer style ranger header panel, headlight retainers, and figure out a mounting spot for my billet grill. I'm either going to fiberglass some tabs and mount it in the fiberglass or build a support bracket off of the header panel/core support and have the grill stand alone. Just haven't had the time nor the money to deal with it. I need to get my D35 regeared and swapped in before anything else happens with the truck.

Exactly, the 9" is a better axle to start with. Just harder to find in the narrower widths.

Dana 35 TTB?? Or are you putting a Dana 35 in the rear?? Or do you have a Dana 30 front you're putting in??

D35 TTB. It's a direct swap in replacement for the garbage D28 that's in it now. I have 4.10's in the 28 now and 4.88's in the 8.8 so the truck is 2wd as of now. lol as you can see, ran out of money and time and haven't messed with it since. I just pulled the front driveshaft so in the event it did go in 4wd it wouldn't bind up. No sense in regearing a D28 when I have 2 perfectly good 35's. I just want to go through them, rebearing, reseal, and new radius arm bushings as well. Not to mention new calipers, rotors, and pads. I like to put new stuff in knowing the condition and that I've gone through it. That's the biggest stupid thing I see people do, start slapping on junkyard parts and they can't figure out why their truck won't hold together. I toasted my 7.5 the last time I was out wheeling, so that was why the 8.8 got put in asap.

You should just look for an EB D44 and swap that in. You'll probably spend about $700 on that D35 and its still TTB. I'm not sure exactly how much work it is to SAS a Ranger. But it can't be too hard considering you already have the coil setup there. I could be completely wrong though...lol

I could, but right now that's too much work for what I need and it'll end up coming out for the long travel swap. I'm planning on either making a D50 TTB hybrid for the LT or modifiying the D35. Either way it's going to stay a TTB for LT. A SAS wouldn't benefit me for high speed LT. The SAS isn't too bad, it just the steering components require a lot of work and 9 times out of 10 you need to fabricate your own radius arms.

I have the 35, just need to buy the gears and install kits ($250) and I get all my parts at cost through my brother, so to completely overhaul the D35 I'm looking $500 or so, plus swapping a transfer case and possibly making a new front shaft. The D35 takes larger U joints at each end, so I'd rather just swap in the 1354 Tcase I have as well. If the driveshaft that's on the case now works I'll use it, if not looks like I have to make another one.

I didn't know you were going with a LT setup. (Shoulda realized that when you were talking about the glass parts...lol) TTB is definitely the way to go for that.

You can get a conversion u-joint that will mate the original shaft to the yoke on the 35. Any auto parts store should be able to look that up for ya.

I could, but 9 times out of 10 you end up getting the smaller joints with the conversions. It's not that big of a deal to toss in the other transfer case, plus it's also quite a bit stronger than the one I have in now. The joints are by far the weakest points on the TTB's. Usually the caps work their way out and once they pop out the u joint slams around and breaks the end of the shaft. I put 4 little spot welds on the the caps to keep them from working their way out. I've seen guys completely weld them in, but I do the 4 spot welds so I can change them out if need be.
