Is this true? After JUST 2 months?! Is that like 2 months of breathing that non-stop in an un-vintalated area or what?

Please explain! I'm kinda scared now! :P

Thanks!

My neighbour welded in a shop for 26 years before he had to go on disability ... he has parkinsons. The company gave him his 4 years for retirement.

well when i was in shop class one year our teacher had us practice welding with all different kinds of rods and the next year he told us that anyone caught using 3 certain types of rods will be booted from the class for two weeks because the gasses they emitted could cause parkinsons disease related symptoms

he claimed he tried to remove all of the 3 types of rods but people still found them everywhere... i dont remember what the numbers and letters were on them but i do remember they welded really smooth like butter(yea i found one and used it unknowingly)

This could quite possibly be what caused him to make this rule

Just make sure you work in well ventilated shops. Most of the guys that have parkinsons are now in their 50s ... and when they started Health and Safety was virtually non-existant.

Read all the warnings on the side of a can of rod sometime, it will take you a while.

I could really cut down on the mumbo-jumbo for them. If you use this product you will get sick or die is pretty much what it says.

Thanks for posting that. I never thought much about parkinsons, but that explains a lot about the health problems I am experiencing. I have basically EVERY symptom on that list, and it has gotten worse over the last few years. Im only 32, but I started learning to stick weld when I was 7, by 13 I was competent, and I still stick weld at least 40-60 arc hours a year with a stick welder. I have read the warning labels in the past on the rod box, but I dont remember reading anything about any long term health issues.

Not that I would ever bring lawsuit toward something like that, but it great to have an explanation.....Oh well, go on with life as usual!:)
