Alright. I have a 2005 Yfz450 with a few parts on it. Its been giving me alot of trouble lately and I just dont have time to deal with it. It needs to be rejetted and have the carb cleaned, alot of things painted and a new rear master cylinder.
A guy wants to trade me a 2002 400ex. It has Razr 2's all around, Pc pipe, Handlebars, nerfs, skid plates, air filter. He is also giving me a brand new 11:1 440 complete motor, 450r carb, new swing arm, shock, linkage, a arms, sub frame, and steering stem.
His is in pretty good shape.
Think I should trade?

I would in a minute but I love the ex and just ride trails and on the street every once in awhile so I guess it would depend on if you race or not.

yeah i would. plus if your in the trails a lot its a good quad and can still go out on the track too.

ship your yfz out here and i'll trade haha. all the stuff that you're mentioning as being wrong with it will go wrong on any quad. thats just regular maintenance, besides the jetting and master cylinder.

but dont some yfz's have a problem on the connecting rods where they arnt getting enough oil for lubercation and they would sease. i think this was a problem up untill 07 when they fixed it by having a constant spray of oil onto the spot where it would sease. but im not sure if it was only a sertain batch of yfz's that had the problem.

I dont race. I just ride power lines, sand pits, trails and around my house in the summer and love to ride in the snow. And Pipeless I would have no problem trading for your quad! That thing is so nice.
I just want something that doesnt need as much maintainence and will pretty much always start for me.
Im not losing to much money by trading right?

just keep in mind that aftermarket parts do not really add much value.. especially on a 2002. however, if you're getting an entire extra engine with it, there's an extra 700-1100 right there.

that would be a waste of your money dude.. i would say il trade you with 1000 bucks on top.. 400s are outdated and cheap to buy used. ive seen 02s in mint condition go for 1500 to 2000 easy.. bad deal. just my .02 cents

Around here my yfz would go for 2200 tops. So The extra 700-1100 from the extra engine plus around 1500-2000 from the quad= 2200-3100.
More than my Yfz.
