parnelli jones is a damn good tire. i ran them on my z71 for a while 37x12.50x16 and got really good mileage out of them and they perform well in mud, snow, and road manners for these tires are excellent. right now i have 37x13.50x16.5 baja klaws on my truck and i hate them

toyo is a good tire but your going to pay a pretty price for them.

the parnelli jone's dirt grip on my truck

Those Parnellis are rated very well off road, but I cannot comment on how many miles they will go... Tires that big do not wear very well usually, so it doesn't really matter what you get I suppose, but for all terrains, I've had pretty good luck out of the BFG's.

i got alot of miles out of mine...i forgot how many miles i had on my tires. but i bought them used from my buddy they had about 15k on them with 85% tread.

they really dotn consider the dirt grip a mud tire they are considerd as an all terrain. but imo they work awsome in mud

x2 was the most popular tire that i put on all summer. You can't seem to wear them out lol one set we took off for an old farmer that had 90,000 miles on them and they still had 20% tread :D

they may not be the best looking tire but they lasted me 40+ thousand miles, never had a problem with them, and trust me, i did ALOT more then go in some sort of mud or grass and never had a problem.

after running Mickey tompson MTZ's for 2 years i'm going back to the BFG A/T's. they have a wonderful ride also

I've heard that the Toyo tires are pretty decent when it comes to wear and road noise. A little pricey though.

There's the new nitto Trail Grapplers ... not sure how well they hold up , but they sure look nice.

good site right there with alot of tire reviews. go read for yourself. some users have posted other feedback about tires too

i had bfg all terrain on my rig. they dont do wortha crap in anything. u could piss on the grass and get stuck with bfg all terrains. they might last for a while but they just aint worth everything you sacrafice for treadwear

I agree, BFG a/t's are terrible. They're good for sledpulling but they dont last very long and I dont think they hook up well in anything else.

I think if you told us what these were going in, would help too.

If you want to see how long a tire will last, check on the diesel forums. The diesel crowd is generally running a heavier truck (which wears a tire infinitely faster), towing, and putting more power through them than most other rigs.

Toyo's come highly recommended, and I personally love how the pro-comp tires we've used have lasted. That includes massive burnouts.

he kinda left us hanging on what kinda tire hes lookin for/kinda truck hes putting them on etc etc

if your looking for a good allterain probally the best to get would be a procomp extreme a/t or a parnelli jones dirt grip.

if hes looking for a straight mud tire the best tire is going to be a super swamper or a nitto MG

This is what I was going after. Mudders tend to cup out and wear fast driving nothing but pavement. I guess there is different mud here and there. I had the A/Ts, and they did fairly well for an all terrain.

pro comp xtreme all terrain

mickey thompson baja atz

nitto terra grappler

toyo mud terrain and all terrain

kuhmo road venture

bfg

There all pretty good, i would pick the xtreme all terrains because they have a 40k tread wear guarantee

I had nitto mud grapplers, they look cool but dam there loud as hell on the road.

I have m/t baja atz now and love them

ive got a problem punching chunks of steel through BFG MT Km2s, i really like the toyo open country Mts, was getting 110,000km out of a set in a half ton. Unfortunatly my local dealer stopped selling toyo.
My hankook dynamic mts(open tread r01 models I think) were the best tires I had but wore a bit quick and some tard stole them.
just a question but why are you running 37s if your not driving offroad?
If you want a cool looking tire, super swamper thornbirds are a choice there good on the highway but there about the only tire worse offroad than bfg all terrains

nope, mostly pavement. i watch the treadwear and adjust the PSI accordingly, they have 1 burnout on them ever (lol), and i rotate them every third oil change or so.

i don't think so myself, but you tell me:

IMO, you can get away with less tire under a lift if it's a mud tire. looks-wise, anyways.

mine are 315/75R16, with 4" ProComp springs (diesel springs, under my lighter-weight gas V8), along with Warrior 1.5" lift shackles.. netting the same as most guys with 6" under a diesel.

it's no pavement princess; i was rubbing the tires when wheeling it hard with just the 4". so if you're not going to give it too much hell 37's will work fine.

fastredrider44
12-10-2009, 03:13 PM
A 10.5 37 inch is like a pizza cutter. You will probably have to look more in the range of a 12.50 wide tire. How wide are your wheels?

400exrider707
12-10-2009, 03:18 PM
You're gonna want a wider tire than 10.5"

We're running 37x12.5x17 pro comp extreme mud terrains on an 05 crew cab short bed 350 right now. It had 35x12.5x17's on it with just a leveling kit, now it's got a 4" lift with the 37's.

This is on my buddies truck. He had the same tire in 35" before and liked them so much he got them in 37's this time.

BFG's A/T's are terrible on the heavier trucks.

6600lbs for a 3/4 ton is probably a reg cab chevy? The Ford's weigh more.

My extended cab curb weight is 7600lbs.

Check on www.powerstroke.org there is an entire section for wheels/tires and the guys on there will tell you what holds up and what doesn't. I'll tell you right now Toyo M/T's are one of the most popular, they're pricey but worth every penny.

Josh, sounds like the truck is getting a killer make over !!!

I run the nitto terra graplers with a 6" pro comp lift on my tahoe, but I like the wider tires like the 12.5. How come your going with a skinny tire like the 10.5??? The best thing I like about my tires is how quiet they are on the road. I've run better off road tires but you need a kick *** stereo to override the noise they make on the road !!!

good luck, anything you do will look good !! Also I put mine on 18" rims so I didn't have sooo much tire sidewall showing!!! Thats also something to keep in mind - especially with 37's - thats alot of sidewall with a 16" rim !!!

hey dan, yeah man im picking up a lift and wheels cheap, just need some tires. i dont want 10.5 wide tires thats just the size of the wheel:p i was told i can go up to 14.5 i think im gonna go with 12.5 wide with the 37's. your right though that is a chit load of side wall but i allready have a set of wheels and gonna be enough money in tires let alone another set of wheels, besides michelle will hang me from my balls

400exrider707
12-11-2009, 01:09 PM
The nitto terra grapplers are an awesome tire, but under the weight of the heavier diesels, seem to wear out extremely fast. My buddy only got about two years of highway driving out of his on his extended cab 04 F250, 4x4. They were the 13.5" wide tires too. He doesn't drive very hard either. His pro-comp x-terrains outlasted those by far.

Just remember with the weight of that diesel hanging over the front end, you're going to wear through tires faster than most other trucks. What cab configuration do you have?

I've got pics somewhere of my buddies 05 crew cab with 37's on 17" rims, and those rims look too small already.

Agreed, I dont like the 24" rims with 37" tires, but there needs to be a compromise, something in the middle. I hate the look of a 44" tire on a 15" rim in the same regard...

allow me to do the math for you when i get home from work.

ok.

truck was purchased memorial day weekend 2007, with 77,xxx miles on the clock. tires were 235/85r16. that translates to:

235mm wide / 85% sidewall = 199.75mm....

199.75/25.4 = 7.864" sidewall, x2 sidewalls = 15.728" total sidewall, + 16" rim = 31.72" tire.

shortly after july 4th weekend the lift and tires went on. tires are 315/75R16; mickey thompson's website lists the overall diamater as 34.5"

by my math, that's an 8% increase in overall diameter.

http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/bbender/685448.jpg
http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/bbender/685447.jpg

current mileage on the odometer reads 132, 844. heres a 15 minute old pic:

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s248/bbender85/truck%20stuff/DSCN0958.jpg

132,844 - 78,000 = 54,844 uncorrected miles

54,844 + 8% = 59,231 actual miles. that doesn't take into account wear.. nonetheless it is somewhere between 54,000 and 60,000 miles.

some more warm, fresh pics just for you:

right rear:

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s248/bbender85/truck%20stuff/DSCN0953.jpg

right front:

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s248/bbender85/truck%20stuff/DSCN0952.jpg

left front:

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s248/bbender85/truck%20stuff/DSCN0956.jpg

left rear:

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s248/bbender85/truck%20stuff/DSCN0957.jpg

as you can see, two have worn more than the other two; i didn't rotate them at all last winter, so due to spinning (rear ones at the time), they wore more.

since they first went on, the truck hasn't moved without these wheels and tires... since i sold the stock ones. every single mile since the lift has been on this set of wheels and tires.

i lived on a dirt road briefly, but it was less than 2 miles off the pavement.

checkmate.

I bought my F250 with 14,700 miles on it, I'm at 57,000 now, and my 4th set of tires... :o

I started with the stockers, then put on some 34x10.5x17 super swampers, then some 33x12.5 dick cepecks, then back to the stockers cause those didn't last either, then the stockers came off and I put 18" lariat rims on with 275/65/18 Cooper Discoverer's, trying to be gentle on these.

I also had a set of goodyear wranler MT/R's in there some where, but they were in bad shape when I got them so they didn't last long, and I'm not counting them.

:huh

Tires are the most expensive part of keeping my truck on the road lol

Hell I ran 44's on 16.5's back in the day and also had a truck with 38's on 15's!! 20 inch rims look gay IMO.

Overall, mud/dry/roots/road/etc. I'd deffently take the Pitbull Rockers! They are an AMAZING tire! Last a VERY long time, hook up on just about ANYTHING, clean out VERY well, and are real puncture resistiant..

Best of all.. they are on the cheaper side of other tire too! Great tire!

The Boggers look awesome, but they are ONLY good in the mud! No side traction, too tough of a side wall, and they are much too much/overly priced! They do however, look great! But as you are going down a hill, they have no side bite and will turn you side ways so fast you wouldn't believe!

are you crazy? the rockers are a bias ply tire as well. u leave them sitting for a while and your rig is going to be galloping like a horse.

any bias ply tire is going to get flat spots even from just sitting over night.

me myself i just bought me a set of iroks i love them thus far. ride is really smoothe to be a mud tire. ive never had them in mud to see how they do but ive had them in snow and they pull really well

I don't know about yourself, but there isn't a weekend when my buddies arn't out riding.. snow/sleet/rain/etc.. and they are open pipe buggies! They are amazing! Crawls up any hill! And it just has a small 2.2L 4 banger! The ONLY time the boggers are able to go anywhere the Rockers cant is only when going up a nasty muddy hill.. you should have seen our buddies buggy with the swampers.. it was soo funny! Couldn't make it up any hill.. had to take "short cuts" .. this was durning the day when the snow was starting to melt on the hills and the hills were soft.. boggers just could not do it!

what do you guys think? brand type, not for off road really.......daily driver for now..thanks

far as the boggers, boggers are a tire that arent designed for anything but straight line mud bogging. they pull like hell in the bogg, you cut them you get even more traction. its like having a tractor tire on your rig. i believe the new M16 which have a similar looking tread to the bogger would be a good tire in any condition but idk ive never ran a set yet so i cant say much far as how they pull but the original post asked for a 37 for a DD not for an offroad rig. if he was rock crawling or trailing most of the time then id say yea get the rockers, they are cheap and look decent. idk about the tread wear tho
