I'm sure it's aluminum...not positive. I don't think i'd trust a weld in that area.

Bugard has twin row carriers for $100.

Im allmost positive it's CAST ALUMINUM. it can be welded, but it depends a lot on where it broke??what ever you do if you decide to get it welded bring it to a weld shop, make sure it's done wright!!! good luck!!

Its at the end where the bearings are. Its where a peice about 1/4 inch sticks up. You can see part of the bearing. What can I weld it with? A aluminum welder? Man Ill tell you what!!!.........every time I work on this bike I find more problems!!!!! My Yamis never give me this hassel!!!! My grampa's brother is a "profinal" welder. He went to school for it and all the good stuff. I think we might take it to him.

Hey knarly,
does your carrier look like this one? I didn't know it was broke until I went to take it out. The only thing I can figure is when my chain come off and wrapped around the carrier adjuster sending me to a rapid stop. I am now looking for a carrier myself.

i just ordered one from Herrmann Racing. It seems really nice. And yet a little cheaper then other brands around there making the same carrier.

It was cracked when I pulled it out. I broke it all the way when I was knocking the bearings out.

Check EBay...there are usually used carriers on there for real cheap.

same thing with mine. i went to tighten my chain one day and the carrier locked up and when i was pulling and trying to turn it, it cracked. when i took it out to replace it, it was in 5 or 6 pieces. i also have the herrmann racing carrier now. no problems with it so far. it looks pretty nice too. i think what happened to my stock one is that the seal went bad or wasn't installed right and water and dirt got in and messed it up. before it broke, whenever i loosened the 4 bolts water would pour out so something was wrong.
