so i have been thinking for a long time now...

and i came up with the idea of rhino lining my rims and my stock bumper and grab bar. i thought it would be an awesome idea instead of the old idea of the 4 coats of spaypaint comming off every season.

i thought it would be an awesome idea and not only wouldnt it rust, it wouldnt scratch bad at all.

what do you guys think. would it work good or not.. i would love any sugestions please. also how much does rhino liner go for. thanks.

I've heard of people rhino lining rims and such and from what ive heard it holds up very well. Probably cheaper than powdercoating to.

I did my fenders in the cheap dupli color truck bed coating. It did not hold up at all. I was thinking of having them done for real at rhino lining.

It works but you have to read the instructions and do it right, we did it on a swing arm that was bare al, put an etching primer on after cleaning it with a scuff pad and sol prep, you can get kits for truck beds at the autostore or Walmart. This is brush on they make spray ons. Might add a few ounces but it held up good.

I recently did the spray on the front of my trailer and did the whole cargo floor brush on plastic and it holds up pretty good, there all kinds of applications. Slick plastic I would think is hard to stick to and may need some rough gouges and lots of scuffing.

Lot cheaper and looks as good as powder coat imo...plus some parts w/bearing I won't PC and heat up.

Thanks, we're happy with the way it turned out. THe black cross bars by the engine we need to tuff liner, the spray paint is not holding up to the amount of times we take the engine out and scuff them up. Couple more shots...Maybe we should do that other casting but got a little concerned about weight and you got to take it all the way out to do it right, lots of masking too. .

We use line-ex it goes on hot and you can spray it thinner for less wieght. We have been using it for three years on bumpers/grab bars and nerf bars and it holds up very well. The nerfs on the 450 are before line-ex

We take it to the line-ex dealer and tell them what we want and they spray it, very simple.

What does a set of arms cost......I do myself with a brush and spray can to keep my cost down. I can do a set of arms for less than $15 and that job would be simply, a swing arm I won't heat, especially where bearing carriages are. How hot are we talking?

The heat is minimal I believe it is about 118-125, the differnce is night and day compared to what you can put on yourself way harder and more durable.

Has anyone ever done a frame and how can you get this off?

I really like this idea. However, I used to stuntride streetbikes and I went to a Rhino Liner dealer to get the top of my gas tank done and it was going to be VERY expensive. Reason being, they have to charge you to "open a new can" of the liner, so you end up paying for enough liner to do like a whole truck bed.

So the best option would be to find some other people that want it done and do a whole bunch at once and split the cost.

Not saying this is always the case. I just wanted to give a heads up if people are thinking about going to a Rhino Liner dealer.

Well I have 2 dirtbike frames, 1 quad frame, a-arms, swing arm, bumper, and some other stuff so I think I'll be good with that. How much was it to "open a a new can"?

Now I feel kinda dumb, becuase I don't quite remember. I just remember going in thinking it wouldn't be much because I only wanted a small surface area done, and they gave me the basic price for a truck bed. It was a couple hundred $$.

I have used both and rhino liner does not even compare to line-ex and they do not charge you for a can they charge for how many clicks it takes to do your project. The rhino material also gets softer in the heat.

Thanks for the info man. Will the line-ex cover up the vin number?

Yah it will goes on thicker than porwder but I always tell them to put a light as texture as possible and then I spray Maxxima SC1 on it to keep the mud from sticking. If you tell them to they can wire tape around the vin# so it is still readable.
