Hey coincidentally, I just had the same thing happen, My neighbor happens to be a welder, so I flushed the tank out with gas then soap and water. (so it doesn't light on fire when he welds it :D ) then I took it to him and he fixed it for me. He built up the weld lots too so it doesn't happen again. Works perfectly now

Waaaayy cheaper than a new one

That seems to be happening a lot. Hopefully mine doesn't soon, but I am worried about when I change the Oil here in a week or so because I think the bolts got over tightned last time....

Just got to let that engine warm up good and hot. The bolt should come out without a problem.

Ok thanks a lot for the tip. A few weeks ago I went to change it, after letting it run and get pretty warm, and I couldn't get my dang crankcase bolt to move, so I said the heck with it for now. Now my Oil needs changed so I got to get those bolts out. lol

Yes, before removing the plug warm the engine and oil up like the owners manual says, and if the plug is still tight, put vice grips on the allumium boss the plug threads in to to support the weak tank casting, this sould do the trick and if you allready have a crack or cracked bottom tank a compentent alumiumin welder sould be able to weld a patch on the bottom tank to repair and or to strenghten the plug location. hope this helped.

I don't want to make anyone mad, but use a torque wrench to torque the oil bolts to factory specs. This extra step can save you alot of greif in the future. /jmo:)

Your right, and you should also relace that aluminum washer every time you take those plugs out. Those washers crush when you torque the drain bolt and are only good for one use. Honda uses the same type of washer on every drain bolt, on every car and bike they make.
Do like I do and oreder them by the sack. They're cheaper. ( I only have to pay for the tank washer, the case washer I get from work for free.)

I crack my and used JB weld on it. It works great, but my only had a hairline crack in it. But Its stupid that the tanks crack so easyly.

I get mine at the dealership I work at. I just give them the bike P/N and they cross reference it to the car P/N.

Get them at the dealer or service honda.

Drain bolt P/N for the oiltank is 90441-425-000

crankcase drain is 94109-12000

if you still have the part to be welded maybe a 20 you pay shipping back and forth and heres a pic of my extension not a great pic but youll get the idea its been in the 400 a year now i can pressure test the tank to to check for leaks:cool:

HAHA Kenny You cant weld anyway. I might Bring my frame over soon with some gussetts and my motor over to do a rebuild but if you want to be a ***** ill take it elsewhere.

I didnt over tighten the bolt i was losening it and my friend bumped my 400 and it fell and shoved the rachet up in the tank.

I can do with out the Extra oil part but if you will reweld what broke back on and maybe reinforce it or something that would be great.
