View Full Version : Need a stronger battery?

Ok i have a 440 kit and stage 2 hot cams in my z bought a new battery for it but it just drains the juice from it, does anyone know how i can fix this cause it seems to have a hard time turning over with the big kit, and its hard to roll start it when sometimes there are no hills, can anyone help me out

before doing anything have your new battery load tested. Im seeing a scary percentage of new batteries regardless of brand are junk right out of the box.

cant remember i think it was 12 its just a stock battery from the zuki dealer

Run a dual battery 24v setup. Thats what I had to do. Or you can try a Hayabusu battery. Just a suggestion if your battery turns out ok.

a run a capacitor parallel with your battery pos terminal then ground the neg side of cap to frame.get a .1 farad and try and mount it on the subframe.these are only a few bucks at radio shack,theres somebody on ebay selling these for almost $100! with a nice packaging on them.i have been using these since my car audio days from the early 90s;)

those ideas are pretty good thanks guys, if i used a 2 battery setup how would i mount the 2nd battery?

Airmobile how can you run a 24 volt set up you would cook the 12 volt regulator and possibly the cdi box plus any 12 volt accessary do you mean a parallel connection that would provide twice the cranking current not voltage 2 batteries in series 24v I don't think is good

You are correct. The second battery is wired between the starter relay and starter. I got a pic, let me look for it and post it. Now you do have to put the second battery on a charger occasionally.

thanks guys we got it fixed i appreciate the help , the only problem now is the day i got it fixed a ball joint fell out of my a arms im thinkin time for +4 everything

how long is that starter going to last?

actually i gained experience with such things way back it the lat 70's to early 80's ,trust tme theres nothing new under the sun .
i do find it amusing that you have not figured out how to charge the 2nd battery.
your the smart guy ,keep working on it .:devil: :D
