ok well last night my car took a dump on me it is stuck in 4th gear an wont come out it will go into another gear but it acts like it is working against itself and wont move just dies it will move but i have to clutch it alot any ideas on how to fix it or whats wrong????

What kind of car is it?? Did it happen while you were shifting??

its a 1990 civic hatch yaya i know a honda
an idk exactly how it happened i was slowing down an put it into 3rd and it came to a dead stop i was only going 25 thank god

Sounds like the synchronizers have gone out. Probably time for a rebuild.

okay thanks i still have to look at it alittle more an any other ideas?? i could use them

So the clutch still works normal?? Is it grinding trying to go in another gear??

its a 20 year old import......stick a fork in it....its done. not gonna be worth putting a new tranny in:(

clutch is works great nothing wrong with that, the thing is it is stuck in 4th it wont come out but you can put it in another gear and it wont move or anything just dies
