Help me decide on a quad for my g/f 250x or 300ex

she use to ride a blaster til last year. i said no more 2 strokes due to where i live.

my buddy has a 1992 250x he said he let her have for $900, needs a pickup coil to run correct. hes gonna give the part to fix it too.

shes a sucker for white and blue.

but then next day i found a 1996 300ex all red haha, for $500 that lost spark.

kicking dont bother her but we all know estart is easier. i dont care either way ( i kinda dont like batteries on bikes but its a deal)

both have new tires, plastics in really nice shape.

what kinda issue with loosing spark am i looking at money wise? i thought its prob the ignition coil or a bad wire some place.


both are in same shape. i did tell her i could trade my buddys plastics with the 250x is shes sold on color alone but she said screw it im just gonna get it all muddy anyway haha.

anything to look out for on these bikes? im sold on aircooled 4 strokes that are not high performace motors. i like longevity like my xr200rs and 200x's

PS buying one 2morrow, wish both but only can have one unless i make the other into a 3wheeler since im not a quad guy too much.

I'd get the 300. Could be as simple as a coil or bad as a stator to fix however.

i would also opt for the 300, and again like said above it could be coil, stator, or cdi box.
If it is the coil or stator they are very easy fixes and you can usually find these parts really cheap on ebay.
if it is the stator all that involves is just removing the left sidecase and slapping a new one in, i recommened getting a used one as a new one i bought about 4 years ago cost $225 from the dealer
